I Have Had Some Really Good Teachers
I remember last week my English teacher saying her birthday was today. She jokingly said she likes Sprite and Kit Kat's. I didn't think much of it at first, but after thinking about it I found a perfect opportunity to get her a good, but cheap gift.
Last night I went to the store I work at and got her exactly what she wanted. Two 2-liters of Sprite and 2 bags of snack sized Kit Kat's. The Kit Kat's were $8. Way overpriced in my opinion, but I bought them anyways. I felt like getting her a "thank you" card aimed for teachers but I couldn't find one. So I just ended up getting her a fancy birthday card that burnt a hole in my pocket. The gift wasn't as cheap as I thought it would be.
This morning before I boarded the bus to the career center, I stopped by her room and placed the gifts right outside her door. I get to school earlier than most teachers. I left her the card in an envelope. I put her name in big letters on the front of the envelope (I normally write really small).
Now that I think about it, I should have written a thank you message on the card. But the thing is I didn't want her to know it was from me. I didn't sign my name or anything. But if I could go back and do it again, I would have written a little "thank you" note so she could feel appreciated.
I left school early today for an Orthodontist appointment, so I didn't get to see her reaction to the gift. I just wanted to know what she thought about it and if it made her smile. If I make one person's day better then I did my job for the day.
