In my experience, people on the political left rarely look deeply at the issues - they just react to what's on the surface. Homeless people are needy, give them money. I don't like what these people are saying, so lets try to silence them. The fact that silencing people's freedom of speech is part of a larger issue never even enters most of their brains.
