Could life seriously be this cruel?? How that one choice mess everything up???

Life can be very arbitrary, yes, and a single choice can shut off endless trees of possibility sometimes.
What's happened, what choice did you make? Can't really suggest courses of action without that ... although I expect this was more an existential wail of protest than asking for ideas
