Why do most high rise buildings not have floor number 13?

I noticed that visiting many buildings it jumps from 12 to 14....?

Yeah but I think people on the 14th floor know what floor they're really on. I work on the 14th floor XD

ha! I used to work in the same building as the NZ intelligence service. It had 8 floors, but the elevators only went (officially) to 7.
