Why would you stay in a relationship where you give much and receive little?

SW-User Best Comment
There can be so many reasons and they often change over time. I know in my own marriage it started out as wanting to honor the vows we made and I also had something to prove. Then it became more about fear of leaving, then it was for the sake of the children, now it is almost all about fear.
@Lakesidepoet: it's only Friday my sister....

Probably because im a giver & don't really expect anything back
Is this your current situation?

Perhaps some do it in the hopes that their SO will change their behavior.

True love is unconditional and beyond measure.

You're "in love" and think they will change. Been there and fucking done that.

Learned that the hard way.
@beachgirl25: sorry. But most usually do the hard way. I did.

@Quoththeraven: Don't be sorry. I'm better off.

Because I'm stupid like that. But I'm trying to do better. Been single for awhile now
Better to be single than to be used as an object.

@Quoththeraven: I don't stay in relationships like this I've been single plenty. It just seems to be what I attract. I'm working on breaking he cycle. But giving makes me happy. I would much rather be a giver than a taker. But yes, I understand the ideal is to receive as much as you give relationship wise.
You are worthy of love, kindness and respect.

I probably would because I never seem to learn.
I want to be wanted and I will do whatever it takes to get that.
Just remember you are worthy.

Many are fearful. It keeps them stuck.
Some people never learned their worth.

@Quoththeraven: Yep, and it's never to late to start.
Absolutely!

Nope. Well no if it never changed. I would try to fix it first at least

That little might just be all they need.
Might be so. Sooner or later they will starve.

Giving should not require a wanting
Very very very true. However receiving should inspire giving. I take of the people who take care of me. I try to give back more than I get. Why? Because I care for them and only want the very best for them.
Good!!
I wouldn't. But I know people who are willing to settle for crumbs rather than no relationship.
So sad.
