What do you think is stunting our growth as humanity?

it could be
*types of people
*natural thing, for example, our physical capabilities.

Capitalism. Might be good for growth in some ways, but it is ultimately a counterproductive blight. It is antithetical to human nature. So long as there are winners and losers, humanity will never come together as a whole. It's about dominance and superiority, thus comes the growth of power. But, that power is used to accrue more power, which is then used to subjugate, manipulate, and exploit. There is no other way one can play the game of capitalism. Whether that be ones own people or the people of a resource rich 3rd world country.

It is monopoly. And the game isnt over until someone has all the money.

Humans also naturally work together to achieve goals. We have evolved too quickly. Our population exploded too quickly. We aren't effective in highly dense cities, but small communities. And, our biology isnt going to catch up any time soon. This will also inhibit our growth exponentially.

@Ax17x7: Probably because it's the only globally enforced system that has ever existed. Claiming "It has done the most" I don't see as a legitimate argument, because it's pretty much the only system that has been used, as a whole.

"If everyone would do what's best for everyone as a whole." Not socialism.

Socialism is an economic system. Not a social system. Much like capitalism isn't a social system.

You'll never convince me that the 3rd world is better off due to Western exploitation.
I guess you just have all the answers.

@Ax17x7: No, certainly not. But I have a few. 😕

Willingness to understand.
Too many people want to rule the world by their own standard of thinking.
Imagine the opportunities if we could just get over ourselves and advance for the benefit of ALL !!
Tatsumi · 31-35, M
The issue is defining what benefits all. It's easy to say, lot harder to make everyone work together, because everyone has a different idea.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Oh we're a long way from that ideal !
I just think it might be nice to find things that unite us as a species rather than divide us as one.

😟There are multiple reasons! I believe anything created for convenience purposes have dumbed people down! It has tainted the drive in peoples ability to actually work towards a goal to the very simplest activities such as walking to a store to buy something to writing an actual letter to someone! Technology has become the main factor in the destruction of the human senses from being desensitized through social media! Our ability to see the reality of certain situations or lifestyles have been blurred by the media through which it has created a fake idealism on how people should look and act and talk and think! My opinion anyhoot! Or maybe I really don't belong on this planet at all!!!!

Valid points

Some people have been helped so much that they've forgotten to pull themselves up by their bootstraps...it's one thing to have charity for those who need it but there is a great untapped potential in humans who aren't motivated to contribute to society.

Well then what do you call a person who mindlessly follows the crowd/majority without using his own brain, rationale and sanity. .
Well I'm sure some do think but just are afraid to stand out and be different.
I was going to give a whole speech on how it's not natural instinct, otherwise everyone would be that way.
Then I realised some people are born brave and to stand up for what they believe in and some people are born sheep . So I guess that is natural in it's own sense . There is a reason why people receive medals and other awards. I suppose it's cause it's rare.

Our inability to face the truth, to embrace and cling to news that supports our own belief system, denying the truth the light of day, and fiercely denying the possibility that our own beliefs can too be entrenched and incorrect.

This is more prevalent than ever before. It stunts our growth like nothing else, and infests and affects us in innumerable ways
No offence, but based on comments I've seen from you, you are as guilty as anyone else of this criticism.
CassandraFemale17 · 26-30, F
@Ax17x7: guilty As charged. But I'm aware of it, and I do source many news sites, including those I won't agree with.

We all do have opinions, and so do I.
I have no qualms that mine will be right and another persons wrong. They are merely my own. I expect and welcome others viewpoints.

But I can do that and still stand by what I stated here.
Dependence on the state.

Resources are limited by economics, not scarcity. For example, there's plenty of untapped oil out there, its just a lot more expensive to get at. When you read in the news about how there's only 100 years left in oil reserves, you have to look at what they mean by reserve and they mean, know and tapped oil pockets. We haven't checked everywhere, the arctic for example. It's likely the expense of tapping such remote sources will cause their use to diminish.

Take gold for example. Rare right? Well, there's still plenty of gold in the ground, but not in concentrations high enough to make it economically sensible to exploit it. You pan for gold in a river, not the ocean, if you know what I mean.

The price reflects the cost of exploitation for the sources we are currently exploiting, not total sources in the world.

The amount of genders.
Pureblossom · 22-25, F
I mean yea people are going overboard with all these extra genders, but that's hardly even on the top one thousand list of things hindering our progress as a speceies.

@Pureblossom: When the population is trying to figure out what pronoun they are they could be doing something much more helpful to humanity.
Pureblossom · 22-25, F
@Kinevil: I suppose so yea when you put it that way it makes sense.Well here is to hope people figure themselves out sooner than later, so they have time for other productive things.

That actually helps humanity

White people refusing to race mix for the sake of diversity. THe world is wayyy too white tbh and it holds us back from progress
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Yes thinking like this is harmful
Pureblossom · 22-25, F
@StaceyCakes @MasterLee: It's true race affects our progress. I mean originally I would have seen diversity as a good thing. Now that I know people are stupid enough to hate just because the other person is a different color I realize humanity need to be treated like a primitive very childish species. So it would be better If we were all the same color, but of course I'm sure people would find other reason to be cruel and hateful, but sure its a start.
