The shortest day in the year.

Today we (northern hemisphere) have winter solstice, it is the shortest day in the year and with candles, mulled wine and other good things we have to compensate for the many dark hours but is it not wonderful that already tomorrow the length of the days again increases?

Its summer solstice where I am, Happy solstice for both ends of the sphere

It is nice to know that daylight will continue to be longer. I feel so much more alive with longer days of sunlight. I don't know how people north of the Arctic circle can cope with almost 24 hours of darkness

The darkness can become too much but lots of fun things can go on when the light is dimmed and when the candles shine.

@karinaal: I am sure of that. People can adapt to their surroundings

@adkgrandpa42: And make use - good and bad - of the surroundings and environment.
At least the day time is going to get longer.

@karinaal: Thank you, I just learned something new today❣😊

You are welcome and I too am glad that you learned something; then the day is not wasted for any of us.
If I become so old and infirm that I no longer learn something new every day I think I will prefer to die.

@karinaal: I agree❣⭐😊

We say this every year as we watch the sunset on the shortest day of the year. I think we are more Northerly than you.

You are right. The glass is indeed half full.
