Maybe he/she got scare of themselves, it is not about you, it is about them fighting internally with what it is culturally acceptable and what they want maybe ?? especially I understand from the perspective of a good friend you want to be loyal and care for, leaving without saying "Good bye" all the oppositive. The novelty of people wears off after a while I suppose hence this sometimes rather hurtful behaviour. What is if anything worse is the way it seems to be spreading outside casual social Meejah and into professional life. I like that even less.

Mostly cause they (or I) are trying to leave - it's addictive or some other reason. It's not directed at you - at least it shouldn't be.
