The rule that seems to work is:

For youngest potential partner work out half your age + 7

For oldest potential partner, your age - 7 then doubled.

It does not matter what people think it's how you feel. And it's how the relationship work meaning if the older one acts like they are in charge because that may or may not be a problem.
