What's wrong with polygamy?

People can get really bent out of shape about polygamy. As if it's some kind of moral crime. It's even illegal in developed countries.
But what is actually wrong with it between consenting adults?
SW-User
To each their own. As long as it's between consenting adults, no laws are being broken and no one is getting hurt, who cares about what others think?

@Volfield

So is the only thing wrong with it that it's against the law?
SW-User
In practical terms, if it's illegal in your country then you're out of luck until it's voted in.

@Volfield:

So there's nothing wrong with it. It's just inconvenient

Developed society = the parts of the world where people aren't having kids, and therfore aren't passing on their culture and values effectively.

Backwards polygamous society = the parts of the world helping the developed societies maintain positive population growth to prop up their ponzi retirement and fractional reserve banking systems. Growing rapidly as a percentage of those societies and converting them to their values through numbers and democracy.

Result - polygamy, which has been the norm in human history and is a driving force behind ensuring the fittest breed, will return.

There's nothing wrong with it. If you've got three wives, each with an independent income that makes living in a house together much more affordable.
OceanKayak · 31-35, M
Nah, bad idea.

Imagine being one of four or five husbands. I think Al Bundy would love that... he would only have to have $EX every fifth day.

@OceanKayak:

I don't understand. Is what a good thing for me?
OceanKayak · 31-35, M
@UnparalleledMonster: How things are for you now. As it stands. Is it good for ya?
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@OceanKayak:

Oh yes. Things are good
It takes a lot of maturity and openness and trust and communication. Because it goes against society's norms, it is bringing attention to it. Monogamy is what is considered "right and moral". Nothing is wrong with it.
@UnparalleledMonster: It is called acceptance and trust. It is called exploration. And these states are difficult to achieve and to balance. It takes time and the right people to truly work.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@PoetryNEmotion:

I think for most people the aversion to polygamy has less to do with trust than it does with jealousy and insecurity
@UnparalleledMonster: I agree. And people hesitate to be themselves in a society that watches closely.
TexChik · F
First of all , it's against the law in the US
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@TexChik:

Must be nice to be blessed with precognition. But i'm sure people said the exact same thing back when being gay was against the law and it was legal to own humans as property.

Predictions aside, are you able to articulate what's wrong with polygamy?
TexChik · F
@UnparalleledMonster: that was no prediction Ace, you'd have a better chance of over turning Roe V Wade... too many Christians . What's wrong with monogamy ? Too immature to make and keep a commitment ?
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@TexChik:

Sorry, but you made a statement about the future. No matter how sure of your position you are, that is by definition a prediction. Too many christians...at the moment perhaps. But what of the future?
Like i said, i'm sure people in the past were every bit as sure that their laws would stand forever.

Nothing is wrong with monogamy. I enjoy it myself.
But enough deflecting, ace.

Can you tell me what is wrong with polygamy or can't you?
katielass · F
Now that you mention it, nothing really. Just that little jealousy thing.
katielass · F
@OceanKayak: Well----now please don't judge me----but if I have a nice dominant man, that's all I need. All I want.
OceanKayak · 31-35, M
@Katielass: I agree. What more would you want or need.
katielass · F
@OceanKayak: Not everyone agrees with me and that's ok. They can live their life and I'll live mine.

Some laws are stupid. That's one of them.
[c=#BF0080]Nothings wrong with it.. but to legally marry 2,3,4 or 5 wives would be way too complicated legally. Could you image how complicated income taxes would be lol.[/c]
Or a divorce or two? lol
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@pinkrainbowkisses

I'm sure it would be more complicated but no unmanageably so
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
Nothing is wrong with it between consenting adults. It is just about peoples moral beliefs and they figure they can impose those on others.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@PoetryNEmotion: You are saying the exact same thing I have.

People have their morals and they believe polygamy is wrong and they attempt to push their morals on others.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@PoetryNEmotion: I never said it was right either.
@JaggedLittlePill: I am not arguing. I am just putting ideas out here. We are cool, girl.
whats the difference between that and a married person with a bit on the side?..
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@theoneyouwerewarnedabout

Obviously the difference is that all parties are part of a consenting, informed relationship.
There is no subterfuge pr betrayal.
