I Am a Nonconformist

Sometimes you have had enough of whiny, bratty, entitled, jaded, bigoted crybabies, but then you see their critics who're boorish, rude, hotheaded and bigoted and do crazy things like cutting off our collective nose to spite our collective face. When they say things you agree with, you kinda wish you didn't.
I guess this is when you submit to (irony intended) nonconfirmity. It certainly is very inefficient politics, though, since you alienate yourself from everybody. It's also more comfortable to be single-minded about your friends and enemies.
I read the following a short time ago:
"When you worship at the alter of conformity you give up your individuality... " I don't recall the rest of it or the author, sorry. I think that it is appropriate though.
I was just thinking that you have the choice of hooking up w/something because you've been driven there, which may lend you the comfort that comes from belonging, but you'll give up something of yourself.
