What was the saddest moment in a video game you've ever played?

For me, it would be when Dom died in gears of war 3. What about you guys?

I don't normally think sad game scenes are horribly sad. I don't know if it's because they're easily expected or if it's because of something else. Oddly enough, there's one game that has quite literally made me bawl like a baby like, 7-8 times through first play-through, and it's goddamn Kingdom Hearts. With fucking Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Goofy etc as actual characters. fml

@NorthernRoses: you scared me for a moment 😂
There are a lot. When Aerith became part of the lifestream in FF VII it was very touching and very abrupt- and emotional. As she was an ancient.

Watching all of Mason's comrades die terribly-only to have a few live in Black ops was something to see. But most deaths lacked an emotional punch.

The Bioshock series had a few. but I cannot recollect them now. Same with the Classic cult RPG "Nier" for the PS3.
When Joe Barbaro apparently got whacked at the end of Mafia 2. So sad. :'(
