I Find Humor In Everything

I went with my daughter to watch my grandson at football practice (that's soccer to you guys in the US). He's only 6 and I couldn't help feeling a little sorry for the kids battling the elements on a cold, wet and windy UK Sunday morning. To their credit, they all got stuck in and were all enjoying themselves, especially my grandson. All except Freddy. Freddy pitched up late with his mum and you could see that he had been dragged kicking and screaming to the practice. He didn't want to join the others but stood whingeing about things not being fair. After the tantrums receded, he eventually went on to the field but largely just stood motionless while the others charged around. Then, he got some mud on his hands. Off the field he came. Another tantrum and lots of "I wanna go home! Take me home now!" I wasn't too keen on Freddy, to be honest. Hands were cleaned and, after another 5 minutes, he went back on, largely because mum was pointing out how all the other children were enjoying themselves and threatening to remove his junior iPad-type device if he didn't play. His spirits seemed to lift but, just as he started to run round, one of the bigger kids wellied the ball in his direction and hit him square in the face. I heard the thud from the touchline. That was it. Endex! As poor Freddy trudged off the field with a perfect mud imprint on his face, screaming like a teenage girl caught forever in the Blairwitch Project, I am ashamed to say I stifled a chuckle...
Aww...poor fellow! Suits that bugger though...its moments like these that makes me wonder 'God does have a sense of humor'. 😜 Talk about timing!!!

@Curiosity: Never heard that expression before?!🤔

I guess it is someone who lives in a town and doesn't like experiencing the countryside so much. Freddy did not like getting mud on his hands, let alone a ball in the face!

@Curiosity: Hahaha, okay!😉

Could've been my son. He always had a 'strong will' and tried to terrorise us all. I would have chuckled too. 😈

I swear that I sensed his mum enjoying a bit of payback for his behaviour!!
