I drink, therefore I am?

It took me three days sober to sweat out the alcohol. Today, feeling clean, I squatted 3 plates (315 lbs). Chicks around me going, "damn, that's impressive".

4hrs later I'm in the bar, dispensing Johnny Walker to the same assholes on the same stools (so to speak).

And, to quote GNFR, "when I'm high, I never want to come down. .."

try to deal with reality...I gave 22 years to Scotch..you know what? It was ALL there waiting for me when I sobered up. You are escaping NOTHING

@Fernie: I'm a lifelong depressive. Clinically diagnosed. Telling us to cheer up because life is objectively not that bad ... Christ, might as well hand me a loaded gun.

You aren't wrong, of course, but. ..

@WoodyAq: Like I don't know about depression...why do you think I drank 25 years of my life away??? Either you have depression or it has you. Don't give me the "I have no power" bullshit. Depression can be dealt with, controlled, put aside. You are giving in to it. Also, I worked as a counselor for 18 years. I kicked ass and made people understand that they DO INDEED HAVE ALL THE POWER over depression. Many of them stopped talking anti-depressants and took control of their lives. When you say "I can't" I hear 'I WON'T'
You have a right to be happy

@Fernie: you have such a high opinion of your opinion, don't you?

@woody, I know how it feels and it sucks. Glad you made it three days though- your body thanks you.
