Nothing has been "proven", but it also depends on what you mean. The AVERAGE woman makes less per hour than the average man, BUT the average woman also tends to work in jobs with lower pay scales and they tend to have less seniority/work experience because so many women take time off from work for childbirth and child-rearing. In cases where men and women are doing the same jobs and have the same experience -- say teaching -- women make basically the same as men. However, the number of women at the very highest levels of corporations is significantly smaller than the number of men. So it kind of depends on how how you look at things.

@SuperCrazee: i realize that its not about me - but ur right it is a broad question but u can't include everyone in that! I am management in a Diagnostic company - other women in my company get paid less also friends of mine who work in other sectors - unless u have a list of all salaries of everyone the entire UK u know jack shit
