[c=#003BB2]Venus,, you may be interested in it for sure you name or at least a variant of your name is in it
set during the Bronze age collapse,, it is a tale of the end of a world
and an unlikely romance,, oh yes plenty of Manly Adventure too[/c]

He walked up to the steps of this temple,, the strange goddess of old egypt adorned.

all had fled the coming of the Sea Peoples,, rampaging across the collapsing empires,,
with war behind, and families on board.

there was smoke on the horizon Denalu's group,, doubtless pillaging up the nile delta

but he,, Keftu they would call him here, deep copper hair so unseen in this part of the world
knew his ships, his peoples, his families, needed to stop, to live, to lick the wounds of a collapsing world. They were just down the beach,, unloading,, in hope they might carve a home here with fresh water and date palms

All had fled
but there on the temple steps.
She stood, unarmed alone,, Fearless
and oh so beautiful..
it stirred him.

and so he walked boldly up the steps, a face both set in serious purpose
but not malice,, not wishing fear.

She, could not miss those men,, behind him less than a bow shot.
armed,, ready,, dangerous

As he looked at her,,
he was reminded of his own people so far away in the northernmists beyond the lands of the now ruined Hittites.. not that she looked as they.. her skin the color of soft new leather,, but smooth
untouched by harsh sun,,
he was reminded of the Godddess of his own people
Lusty,, powerful strong gentle

and as he mounted the steps

he felt reverent
"there is little treasure here for you sea stealer,,
you have cast our folk into fear and they have fled.".
I
"I am not hear to steal.. we are here to stay"
"
conquerers then?"are we to be slaves?"

"No great lady, who have been slaves do not take them"
He saw she was so poised,, so cleanly shining, skin oiled and
enwrapped in pleated white cotton, the flash of real gold, the warm glow of carnelian, the impossible blue of the glass of egypt. In the shaded doorway behind her,, there was movement,, not men with arms ,, but other priestess,, peering fearful
at what they hoped not to see
"will you take our grain then? our wine and oils? will you savage this Holy place?
for she who is the Bast-Et The eye of love,, a gesture of the right hand, gracefull, is ALSO Sehk -Met, the Lion of the burning eyes, who will ever follow unto death those that despoil her temple." and the left hand moves,, suggesting might
Unbidden, the words came from his mouth
" so long as I and mine, may camp near and heal no one will touch your temple"

"you will even stop your other-kind? the sea robbers at bloody work up the river"

" yes great lady.. I will guard this place of Cat and Lion,, I will not take what is not freely offered, for we are weary of flight and war and strife.. and only wish to be well and happy, and free of our own bonds now broken"
the look on her face,, flickered from that Lion's Poise,
softening,, now winsome and coy

he felt that stirring again
"Then come,, into this cool shade,, take wine with me,, and figs, and Goose cooked in the manner of great Thebes.. take rest here, and bath the salt from your skin"
they watched him, his men,, of so many places
fathers and husbands as well as those with no love

they watched,, as saw as he waved the all clear
and took her offered hand, disappearing into the shadows within
