How is it that people can commit to things? Why do they believe they will succeed?

Why and how can they believe in themselves? Where does that faith come from
EDIT: Or perhaps i should say where does your faith in yourself come from?
I dont know exactly how to say this but I depend on myself for everything. Sometimes I go w/out the faith that I will succeed but I have to if I want to survive.
You can't see or touch faith; you feel it inside, you know that with faith, all things can become possible. I've always tried hard in my life. I've accomplished some really cool things along the way. I'm not rich or famous or even popular. But I know that I got somewhere in my life because I've kept pressing on and believing in myself. I don't believe we're here, we live, we die, and that's all. I believe we are here for our own unique purposes and that it is up to us to explore what that is, and what it means.
I think it's what you remove from what you are doing that helps, not what you put in to it.
If you don't make your desire for success about your sense of self then you are more likely to get through what you are doing.
Or perhaps even...enjoy the process, and don't consider success or failure.

@Alex1610 What hope is that? where does it come from? How strong is it? What would it take for you to lose faith in yourself?

Hope is hope. It comes from confidence, love, positivity, etc. Hope doesn't have just one strength, it changes in different circumstances. What would it take for me to lose faith in myself? My insecure, my lack of any certain skills, etc.
Hope, faith, beliefs, love, feelings, etc come within us naturally, we were born with them, nothing specific created them. There's no actual or accurate explanation for stuff like that. Let me ask you something, where does everything come from? By everything, I mean everything single thing, everything!

@Alex1610 The ability to hope is something we are born with but I don't think we are born with what our current hopes and dreams are. I think that's something we develop through our experience with ourselves and our environment. Although there are not accurate explanations for how it works (at least I don't think) I do know that how we feel is directly connected to our physical body, and really our brains, like the endocrine system for example, or things like dopamine or serotonin. If you are asking where all matter and all energy in the universe comes from it's not something we are capable of truly knowing because he can't view that far back in the past if there even is a point. To me what seems most reasonable is that all the matter, and energy in the universe(or at least some of it) has always existed. Energy and matter are conserved but take different forms and everything that exists is just the current form of that same matter and energy from the past. Although that belief is based on my ignorance of complex physics and my lack of accepting any religion.

Lol I didn't say we were born with our current hopes, I said we were born with hopes inside us. By the way, I didn't ask the question because I wanted to know where everything comes from, I asked because I knew there'd be no accurate or true explanations for it (which is right), and because I also wanted to say that your question is the same as mine

@SBelle no that makes complete sense. Doubting yourself is a luxury afforded to people who have the choice of self doubt. When you need to survive you either put faith in yourself or you die.

@YesNoMaybeSo that seems to be the most common answer I see. That peoples faith in themselves come from their achievements, and in some of those answers they say that through smaller achievements their confidence gradually grows over time. But regardless of that it makes me wonder, what if someone has no achievements or if the individual is incapable of recognizing their achievements as achievements and just sees them as rudimentary?

My faith comes from myself. It's not good relying on someone else to succeed for me.

@VenusSnow if success or failure in something does not affect your sense of self was there a point in doing it in the first place?
😂 I think you just asked me what the meaning of life is.
Well, your motivations are up to you.
Just make sure they're healthy ones.

@Angelita not knowing could be motivation not to try at all.

It could be a "don't know until you try" mentality.

My faith comes from my hope
Any number of things, but the short answer is self-confidence. Set and achieve small goals first and one starts to believe they can do more. 👍🏽
