just watched a documentary on shark attacks, do you get skarks in your oceans?

greenland sharks are kind like the basking shark or as a better example a snake. it's jaw can stretch very wide, though they seem to be mostly interested in fish, don't take them lightly they've been known to eat fish from flounders all the way to other sharks, they've even been found with remains of polar bears, horses and moose inside their stomachs, apparently they're also near threatened, i'm not entirely sure how long they get, but apparently the biggest ones can live up to or past 200 years old, they're also extremely slow, with a top speed of a little over 1 MPH, i don't know much about the ninja sharks, but i do know they live so deep in th ocean that humans can't reach them by swimming and they are just over a foot long, the four eyed shark i don't really know anything about, though i've heard stories they exist... and that they can see in the dark just like cats, i've also heard of a shark that has 16 gills, most sharks seem to have 5 - 7 gills xD

Hennypenny, oh dear! ): do you still go in the ocean or not? we don't get many over here in england!
Quizling, they are scary, i don't blame you! i find them interesting but i wouldn't want to get attacked by one or see one!
GlassDog, that's ok then :) i haven't heard of there being any skarks in the ocean near me, water is too cold? there's been some spotted a couple of hours from mine though, don't no if they're dangerous ones or not!
Tminus6453, aw, that's good. :)
SterbenReyne, i haven't, you'll have to tell me about them? :)
pone22, I bet! i would be terrified! do you still windsurf? i would love to try doing that. :)
@vikiii No, it just takes too much time to travel, set up the sails, derig the sails. You typically invest four hours for every 30 minutes of sailing.

These days people rarely use the old style windsurfers because they were really difficult to learn to ride properly. Learning to get back on the board in an open ocean and get going is quite tough and takes many hours. These days people are using kites and very light boards, and now the new thing is hydrofoil boards with even smaller kites. I haven't tried any of that either, but it looks fun.

same here hope, i don't get why people are so scared of sharks... you're literally more likely to die in your own home than by a shark... just because it's there and possibly hungry doesn't mean it wants to eat you.... if you're neighbours haven't yet i honestly doubt a shark would xD

All oceans have sharks, every body of salt water has sharks and even a couple of fresh water areas (Bull Sharks can swim up rivers for an indeterminate period of time, Lake Nicaragua sharks evolved to live in that lake after it cut off from the sea.)

Yeah, basking sharks off Wales and England. Huge things, but not at all dangerous to man (or woman). Pretty lethal to plankton, though. I love them. I think they're amazing.

hope, thats one of my favorites just imagine if whalesharks ate everything they came across, they'd be the worlds second biggest black hole when comes to food, along side me in first xD

Not ones that would eat me thank God...I'd be nowhere near the water if there were
This shark was between 3 and 4 feet. It didn't even care that it could eat me if it wanted!

Ours oceans are inland and fresh water, so no sharks.

@Peridot - Even the sharks here are lazy buggers...
Come on NoDave! Just a little!
I've been able to pet a lemon shark!
I used to windsurf in the ocean in an area that has a lot of Great White Sharks. You always felt paranoia being in the water and knowing that your last moments might be proceeded by a surge of energy coming up from the blue below you.

sharks are in every ocean xD though on the topic of sharks, have you heard about the greenland shark, the ninja shark or the four eyed shark?

Yes had three shark deaths in last month in Perth, Western Australia. It never was as dangerous before, but sadly getting worse.
