When driving do you ever wonder how the hell some drivers are allowed on the road

I wonder how a sizeable percentage of young people haven't been caught texting & driving and had their licenses yanked.

That's the S. O. P. for the California Highway Patrol , They just love to put offenders to walking without even thinking twice about it plus they have their own Tow truck services .

@Paschar: They make them take classes if they are caught here in Oklahoma, and if they are caught for other offenses that they've gotten their licenses yanked they have to take classes. Someone told me he got a ticket (his third) for going around a barrier, and he had to take a series of classes, 6 total in different parts of the city, I believe and they were all taught by law enforcement officers. In every one of his classes the offenders were told to turn their phones off and to put them away, they would not be allowed any type of use during classes. And at least one and often more would start texting while they thought the teacher wouldn't notice. They'd be told once again and sometimes thrown out of the class or told they'd have to take the texting-and-driving class which was even more expensive. Several of them would curse the teacher or walk out. This is a serious problem and addiction to break.

Indeed and I know why a lot of them drive as if they never learned properly. Here in S.Africa there is a problem with people just buying a drivers license from corrupt officials without even doing a test, written or practical.

at one time you could get a driver's license in the state of Missouri without having to take a driving test...my uncle and aunt never had to take one till they moved to Oklahoma in the mid 1960's.

@cherokeepatti: Wow, that's quite something.

@Wraithorn: I think back then all they had to do is show their birth certificate for ID and fill out a form and pay money, it was a paper license and I remember my aunt had a plastic holder with a spring thing that she attached to the steering wheel with her license inside. She never put it in her purse or took it into the house.

Yup , 20 years of driving experience proved that to me Neddy

On the Interstate 10 at Quitting time it's like the five-O-clock 500
