What are your thoughts on valentine's day? And why are people so serious about it?

I think it's a whole bunch of bull and just an excuse for people to brag about what they got.

I agree with you but I do like to get a present of exquisite pink silk matching lingerie and some jewellery.
Yeah. Presents are always great lmfao. It's also an excuse to get free shit just like christmas

It's just like every other holiday these days, very commercialized to make money for retail and restaurants. Back in my day it was just a box of chocolates for a girlfriend or valentines and small candies for school kids and their parties. It became a thing for guys to send flowers to girls in junior-high and high school when my daughter was young and a practice that needs to stop if it hasn't already, they don't need such distractions in public schools.
@cherokeepatti: simple is more meaningful. I love that about the people your surround yourself with.

@Poptartinvasion: And spontaneous is more romantic too.

A day when all couples can simultaneously show their love.

I mean it's sweet. Nothing bad.

Some single people take it seriously because some people feel bad when they can't find a lover or because of jealousy.

Non-single people take it seriously because idk everyone or many people have something to show for their love and they want to have something to show for it too.
I just think it's an entitlement thing for most
Like anyone waits for an excuse to brag.
Seems as if they do

and an excuse for shops to make money
Oh of course. I honestly wonder how much money shops make off of that crap? I swear those huge teddy bears will be 20 plus dollars and then as soon as the holiday ends it's 10 bucks or less. It's hilarious

god dam straight!
Lol. It's not the appreciation of valentine's day that bothers me it's the people who act like complete utter fools and use it as an excuse to feel entitled to something.
