What would you do if someone you loved was being emotionally abused along with their children by their spouse but refuses to leave?

Or can't leave due to circumstances.

I know a couple that the husband is a complete tyrant. The police have even been called (by the kids, no less) but nothing comes of it. The community "offers support" as a "family" but in reality we've seen this all before. What has to happen is the the woman needs support, there needs to be a restraining order, and guys need to ostracize the husband instead of "helping him cope better". He's had his chances and needs jail.

I knew some like that, I try to sympathize them, but getting into their private matters is not something I'd do, unless it gets really violent.

With children being abused I would contact authorities for sure.

nothing it's none of my business
Nothing. They'd have to want to leave the situation. I don't know under what circumstances in the Western world that they couldn't.

Your choices are limited, at best.
