The movie Raising Arizona depicts someone who simply finds stealing less cumbersome than a formal adoption process. All that adoption paperwork would have just interfered with his fantasy.

I love that we can learn life lessons from Raising Arizona. Which is a hilarious movie.

Well thanks I might watch it .

@TyphoidJerry: It says a lot about the mindset of many habitual criminal "losers." They have wonderful fantasies (the anti-hero in the movie calls them his "visions") but no sense of how to make their dreams into any sort of reality.

it's kinda hard to adopt a baby, believe it or not. and a lot of money. stealing is $0 and a lot less paperwork.
Th1nkF1rst · 70-79, M
less paperwork and you don't have to close the meth lab for a social worker visit!

Not that I'm an advocate of stealing babies or anything but do you have any idea how complicated the adoption process is and how often it falls through?
It's literally easier to steal one than to go through the proper channels LOL

Wouldn't they have to sort out the child's paper work anyway . Birth certificate and so on .All the identification that wil b needed for schools , colleges , hospitals ect .Not to mention people around you will know you where not pregnant (unless you fake it for nine months) you would have to explain .It seems like such a hustle .

@Pureblossom: People who steal babies aren't the type to worry about paperwork.
There are children being bought, sold and traded in closed chat rooms, Craigslist ads and a multitude of other places. Even 20/20 and Dateline have done exposes on it. You'd be surprised how far people will go to get what they want.

Most people who steal babies are stealing babies from people they know - they'll have developed a sense of ownership over the baby for whatever reason.
Pureblossom · 22-25, F
Mhh really ? That's confusing . I guess they would have to move far away from the parents after and loose contact , but wouldn't that make them a suspect :which would lead to the police finding the baby ?

Less paper work

I am in no way saying stealing a baby is okay, it's not but adoption is an expensive and lengthy process that might be why some do it.
Pureblossom · 22-25, F
Well then why don't they steal children who need parents ? Instead of ones with loving parents who would be heartbroken at the lose of their child .
SW-User
It takes someone who is off mentally to do that and they lack the reasoning skills to care about the damage they cause. :(
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Not everyone qualifies to adopt a baby, which can be a lengthy and expensive process. When they can steal one it's like "Free Baby" without all the expense.
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
adoption is not easy.
it's a long, studious process that involves social services and other agencies until the child is legal age.

cause stealing gives them a rush i guess
Pureblossom · 22-25, F
A rush worth taking care of a child for the next 18years?
Firespirit · 26-30, M
@Pureblossom: they usually turn up dead cause of malnutrition or beating
Pureblossom · 22-25, F
OH.

It's 1000% easier

What's not to get ? They don't just hand out babies to anyone. Someone who'd steal a baby in the first place is probably not committing their first criminal act.
Pureblossom · 22-25, F
I suppose .
