If THAT doesn't make you a hero,nothing will😂
He dealt with one of the most tense situations in US history by using pure leadership skills, organization, and designating the right people to advise him. The Cuban missile crisis was a pretty big deal, and JFK's firm leadership was essential in keeping our collective tits out of the ringer. There was more but that's the best example in my opinion.

Focused a country to put a man on the moon. Was shot for being president. Started the process of Civil Rights. Served in WWII as a PT Boat captain.

Primarily the The Cuban Missile Crisis!
Also developments in our Civil Rights Movement, the Bay of Pigs Invasion, the creation of our Peace Corps program, expansion of the Space Race, and treaty of the Nuclear Test Ban.

He was a President that was a real war hero. These Presidents we've elected recently has never even served in the military and yet they became Commander in Chief. Just my thoughts, nothing else.
Lots of reasons. Technically he was, a war hero who saved lives. As the youngest person to be elected president (43) with a young wife and babies, he represented youth and new possibilities after the 1950s. His stance on Civil Rights (mostly due to Bobby Kennedy's influence) also made him popular with people of color at that time.
