Do you define everyone who voted for Trump by the worse of his rhetoric?

Do they all wanna build a wall, prevent muslims from getting in, say disrespectful comments against some women etc?

I define the supporters by the fact that not one of those things was a deal breaker for them. It is disgusting.

Interesting point

They may not want those things, but they do not care about preventing them either.

No. I think Trump supporters have been duped by someone who is just as establishment as Hillary Clinton, and will do nothing to improve their lives. I also think that although they may not be personally racist, they're not personally bothered by racism.

I think time will tell if my life improves. If the economy improves, so will my life. You say I, as a Trump voter have been duped. Pretty ignorant thing to say to someone who made a choice. I might say the same thing about Hillary voters pointing out her many many many many faults. But what does it serve? Isn't it better to respect someone for their choices?

You bring racism into the mix. I don't believe Trump is racist in the least. Having strong views on immigration is not racist. And no Hillary supporting talking head in the media is going to convince me otherwise. Not so for you apparently.

I voted Trump. I want to end illegal immigration. Wall, moat, Imperial storm troopers, whatever. End illegal immigration.

I want to properly vet immigrant applicants. Muslims, Brits, Martians, whatever. Know who is coming into the country.

The women comments thing is pure stupidity on your part. Totally.

But I also want to have economic growth at 3% plus, Obama never made it happen. I also want to be able to afford health care again, so kill Obamacare. I also want to lower my tax burden, not see it go continually higher. I also want to see the middle class on an upwardly mobile course, rather than spiraling down the drain like they are today.

Thus, the reasons I voted for the Trumpster.

Its a tough one because part of me thinks yes and part of me thinks no.

It is said that people should 'own' what they voted for and that if someone voted for a candidate because of trade and economics say, then they are still complicit with his racism and misogyny because that did not put them off from choosing him. This has a certain amount of truth and Trump's election has seemingly helped to legitimise some terrible views.

However; by the same logic you could argue that all Hillary voters 'own' her foreign policy mishaps, her support for the prison system, NAFTA, bank de-regulation and (if you think its important) her email scandal. We know for a fact that many people voted Hillary as a lesser-evil only because they thought her less toxic than Trump and that many of her supporters are very much against the things described above.

Is it fair to give the same allowance to Trump voters, in spite of the fact he has fascistic tendencies? Perhaps it is, with caveats. Trump supporters who supported him as a lesser-evil and are open about his flaws are different to people who are uncritical of or make excuses for the awful things that he has said and done.

You get some good points. Thanks for taking the time

@Urchoice: No prob. You are very kind.
Almost everybody talks shit at some time or another...I voted for Trump, and I've made sexist remarks, and would like to see closer tabs kept on Mosques and immigrants from terrorist harboring countries. I've made crass remarks about a woman's appearance, and I can't wait to see that wall! I'm a pretty decent fellow. I'm just honest about my faults. Most of the people who are voicing such indignation at Trumps faux pas have probably said worse things themselves.
Derp derp derp. Keep spewing your bs. Insult him straight into a 2nd term 😃👍

Was there any positive rhetoric to define them by?
Dino30 · M
Oh know 50% in here voted for him. I don't think t was that they liked him it's that they hated her .
No. I doubt that they are people I would have an easy time getting along with, but no one agrees with who they voted for, on everything 100%.

@carpediem: Happy to point out this person blocked me after reading my response to her post. You be the judge.

It might be a badge of integrity to be blocked by MightyAphrodite.
The fact is, Pres-elect Trump is making all the right moves. Good appointments; bold actions on the economic front; coordinating with the congressional leaders. And let's not forget the Carrier deal.
And a question to Urchoice, leaving aside the practical issues and expense, what moral objection to you have to building a wall across a rather porous border?
carpediem · 61-69, M
@laotzu92: agree on all points
