It is scary to give up what you know and have taken comfort in. People tend to miss the fact that loosing something due to change also means there is something to be gained. Soon enough what is gained will be familiar and comfortable as well.

If you do not ask the answer will always be no. If you do not go after what you want, you will never have it. If you do not step forward, you will always be in the same place.
The thought of change being scary and uncomfortable might also have you considering it is too much effort.
All one has to do is change their mind. Some doors simply don't lead anywhere anymore, and this why change is needed to move forward. Rarely is progress made without a struggle. It is within our greatest times of trials and mistakes that we have the opportunity to grow and make different choices.
To resist is human nature. Instead of looking at what you have to loose, the focus should be placed on what you have to gain. No one said it would ever be simple. 🙂

@Mira-ross: if I were told why certain changes were necessary, I might still be uncomfortable for a while after the change, but I'd deal with it. I just detest arbitrary decisions being made for me without any consideration.

At one time, we could request a transfer to a different unit within the building I live in. One month one of my neighbours requested a move, got approval and was put on the waiting list. When her name came up, she moved....no problem. One month after she applied, I did too, because the unit I live in still has the same carpeting that was installed forty four years ago. As people move out, the apartments are being completely renovated. I want a unit with no carpets. So I applied for a transfer. I was told NO! When I asked why I was told it's against our policy. I mentioned others who had been approved. NEW RULES. If you want to move, move to a different building. Then you can add your name to a waiting list to move back in. That, of course, would require paying to hire movers and a truck, twice, instead of just hiring movers, with no truck, once.

Arbitrary changes feel like a slap in the face.

@Serenitree: yes you are right there some changes can be bad as you've put. Can be hard for some but that's what friends are for

People are afraid of change, but that doesn't mean they don't change

Everyone likes the cozy comfort zone..🤔
I embrace change. Change is good.

Depends on what kind of change it is

You're right. I can accept that. What I have a hard time with is a sudden change of venue, new rules. Anything that happens without warning and for no apparent reason. Telling me, this is how it's going to be, from now on, and you don't need to know why, is unacceptable.

change can be good.

For me it's the fear of the unknown and dealing with the uncertainty of what 'might' happen. For others it can be an easy transition...just who we are as humans really.

Familiarity is comfort. Change is unfamiliar and not comfortable.

Yes but you can't avoid it forever

@Mira-ross: of course! Life is a series of challenges and obstacles that you have to learn to deal with.
A Chinese proverb says: All things are difficult before they are easy.
