What was the reason of EP shut down??

SW-User
A girl got murdered by a ugly weirdo...and I guess her family sued them..but I don't think her family had a leg to stand on! She was of age...and went to meet this guy across country...and left her children home to go play.... :(

@TheUnknown: Here is one video...but read the article about it too.

And tell me if you don't think that was one weird looking man???

I didn't know the story

@TexChik: check out the link...there was actually much about this online right after it happened. Check this weird dude's picture out!
Because there were a lot of privacy issues, a lot of trolls, it was just overall falling apart.

yep that too but it was the murder!!! It was falling apart the last 3 years of it's existence. :/

Finances. Privacy issues. Legal problems surrounding privacy issues. FBI wanted access to all members files. EP admin refused. Too much trouble, not enough time to deal with it all.

FBI?
Serenitree · F
@MrMagic: it's what I was told about the reasons for the problems. The FBI wanted access to member files, but with no specific warrant for certain files. They wanted unrestricted access with no warrants. It caused a lot of trouble for a long time. It's why the last year or more EP was being moderated by a bot.

[c=#BF0080]Some say it was because of the murder.. I say if that was the case then Craigslist, Facebook, Match.com and so on would be shut down years ago.[/c]
Serenitree · F
Exactly. Those two could have connected on any site.

@Serenitree: [c=#BF0080]True!
Craigslist would have been the first to go. There's murders on there a lot. Not too long, about an hour from me a elderly couple were killed.. they thought they were buying a old car but the people killed them and took their money instead. It's craziness. [/c]

@Serenitree: Is that the same one? Scott Amedure seems to have been murdered in 1995, and reading the Wikipedia page, I think I actually vaguely remember it in the news long ago.

I'm thinking of the suicide pact murder, which stands out in my head because I had someone soliciting me for a suicide pact by PM a few months before it happened, and I keep wondering if it was the person involved.
Serenitree · F
@crossproduct: the murder/suicide that was linked to EP was two sick people finding each other to fulfill their sick needs. They could have done it on Facebook or any other social site. The fact that they found each other on EP, is in no way EP's fault.

Scott Amedure was killed because he went on Jenny Jones and told some unsuspecting guy he had a secret crush on him. This guy had a history of mental illness. He killed Scott a few days after the show was taped.

The 26-year-old’s body was found in a culvert across from Shager Park. Police located her abandoned car there last week. According to the criminal complaint, the Ohio mother traveled to Minnesota and Rice County to meet Nisbit, where the two talked about suicide. It said on August 1 they walked to the wooded area where Nisbit tied Martinez up, strangled her and cut her throat. Nisbit later admitted he killed her and led police to her body.

Gina Nisbit said the two met on the internet site “Experience Project.”

“It’s where you can go to explore, any kind of curiosity, and kind of out of the norm type of thing,” Gina Nisbit said.

Rice County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Jesse Thomas said the internet offers a way for people to be secretive.

“They can meet different people online where they can converse and nobody knows what’s going on,” Thomas said. “By the time you find out what’s happened, it’s just too late and you can’t help victims.”

Gina Nisbit believes her husband had a hand in Martinez’s death, but she doesn’t call his actions murder.

“The only way I believe it would have happened would be if he was forced into giving her assistance in some way,” she said.

Gina said her husband told her he tried to talk Martinez out of taking her own life, and that she had a plan of how she wanted Nisbit to kill her, and he eventually crumbled.
