we have Amish west of us, and one day while over in that area, we saw three boys mowing their grass...they are all around 7 or 8 years old...one kid was pushing the manual bladed mower, while the other two had ropes tied around themselves that were hooked to the front of the mower, pulling...they looked like a horse plow team...yet, they were all smiling and having fun as well as getting the job done

@booboo: We had a sizeable Amish population in the county we lived in. I never visited their farms but noticed on drives to different places there were shocks of oats in fields tied up the old fashioned way so those must have been Amish farms.

@cherokeepatti: yeah, they're about 20 miles from us...the wife actually grew up with them, so she goes over there to buy baked goods, fruit, corn, or whatever else they're selling... once while over there, we asked to buy corn on the cob...the woman grabbed a bucket, went out in to her huge garden and picked them for us...can't get any fresher than that!!
