Do you have any questions about evolution?

I find that often people who disbelieve the theory of evolution tend to be somewhat misinformed.
Or maybe you just want some clarification. Either way, i'm here to be of service.

Actually, why are you here? Is the Google search engine not working today?
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@Giyuparedv:

Who's talking politics or religion?
I'm relaying factual information.

I'm not sure what you meant by "theory" at the start. You're not mistaking "theory" and "Theory" are you?
SteelHands · 61-69, M
This not a debate. There's nothing down that road for you with me.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@Giyuparedv:

I know it's not a debate. What gives you the impression i'm trying to debate you?
Certainly not about the difference between the colloquial use of theory and the scientific one because that's just the definitions lol

If that means that we crawled out of the ocean forget it.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@Snoopy40:

I think what you just asked was why are there still fish in the ocean if humans (and other animals) evolved from fish and left the ocean?

And the answer is simply that not all fish evolved into terrestrial animals.
Evolution isn't a straight line from A to B. It branches.

So while some of our fish ancestors diverged from other fish species and eventually developed into amphibians and then reptiles and then mammals, others simply kept evolving along the same basic path and stayed fish.

Does that answer your question? Feel free to ask for clarification or ask further questions.
luckysob · 36-40, C
Well no but i dont have any facts to back me up.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@Snoopy40:

Well which part are you taking issue with?
You just don't think it could happen? If not, why not?
Churchy · 56-60, F
who do you think u are? Charles bloody Darwin?
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@Churchy:

No indeed. But i know the basics, a bit of morphology and a bit about taxalogical phylogeny. So i've still been able to educate people. Which only goes to show how woefully ignorant some people are on the subject.

lol so why do you care so much?
Churchy · 56-60, F
I do not. Good day.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@Churchy:

lol ok then...
Loverinthesky96 · 26-30, M
Yes I do...why does pikachu need a thunderstone to evolve into a raichu? And what level does bulbasaur evolve at? Thanks
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
no idea
and level 15 or 16
Loverinthesky96 · 26-30, M
Thanks :) the world makes sense now...well exempt for the pikachu and the thunderstone there are still questions to be answered in the universe after all.
CaptainCanadia · 41-45, M
"Survival of the fittest" is not an accurate description of evolutionary process. Discuss.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@TyphoidJerry

I dunno. Seems fine as long as you understand that "fittest" doesn't necessarily mean the biggest and strongest
CaptainCanadia · 41-45, M
Yeah, that's kind of what I'm getting at. You don't have to be the toughest to pass on your genes. Sometimes you're just the luckiest it's still evolution no matter who gets to breed.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@TyphoidJerry:

yup. as long as you have adaptive traits you're just fine
