All the people who believe in what the Bible says, have you ever tried to learn Aramaic or Hebrew? [Spirituality & Religion]

ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Uh-oh -- then there goes all that camels passing through eyes of needles, virgin birth, etc. stuff if you read it in the original without the mis0translations. BTW -- which version, Catholic, Protestant, Coptic, or one of the others?
WattdeFalk · 70-79, M
Rubber and glue. And that wasn't an order, it was a fact, as people familiar with them can recognize. (I hope you're free enough to admit you're enjoying this volley!)
@WattdeFalk: As I said, you came very late in this thread. Imagine what you want.

same day as everyone else, my dear. What has that to do with anything? what did you believe your last 4 words mean? Again you're extremely unclear.
Justpeaceandlove · 61-69, F
For me it is not a matter of believing what it says but interpreting it correctly. And yes I've tried but I guess it's not that important to me.
WattdeFalk · 70-79, M
@Justpeaceandlove: I cannot understand what you're trying to say, though I tried.
Justpeaceandlove · 61-69, F
@WattdeFalk: it cannot be explained to closed minded people.
WattdeFalk · 70-79, M
@Justpeaceandlove: I think you're doing a variation on "edjicated snobs are mean cuz they don't give misinformation equal value to their book-larnin'." Is that what you mean, in a very soft-pedaled, indirect and overly wordy weird way?

I'm still trying to perfect my English.

So the Greeks don't get a shout out for the New Testament?
This atheist demands justice for the Greeks!
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Only parts of it -- I think some was Latin, too, and the very early sources probably Aramaic. I mean, not liked it was written at one time or by one person or even in one century.
The Pentateuch or the Hebrew bible or book of Moses whatever you what to call it is beautiful. sucks in English trans slaughter
@LunaInvicta: well here are just a couple of things. It's not thou shalt not kill. It's simply "murder not. There is a diff. And in the English in ecclesiastics "a strong wind from the north" is taken as "a strong wind from the north". It really means "a powerful spirit that comes from with in" A Jonas in the whales belly is three days of turmoil then released.
@LunaInvicta: Adam means the Adom rudman. fisrt man. If adam and eve where the first people who lived in the city of nod that cane could not enter
@LunaInvicta: Good talk. gotta go. PM if u what and i'll get it later
I have enjoyed using original sources at times. Do you?
I have dealt with Bible translation in an acadamic context for a short while.
@LunaInvicta: Hebrew is actually enjoyable. Most Pastors have that in their degree.

Nope, should we?
Well, I'd be pretty interested, because I wouldn't believe what the translations say.
Sunshine · 26-30, F
@LunaInvicta: It would be interesting. But I can barely understand the English spoken here on SW let alone Hebrew. 😂
ScarletWitch · 26-30, F
I believe in Laws of Attraction & Christianity.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Or ancient Greek, even?
A lot more than people who don't believe in what the Bible says

@WattdeFalk: are you feeling better now? Or is there more you need to vent?
WattdeFalk · 70-79, M
Sorry, Ma'am. Self-indulgent cheap thrills kicking my exasperation at you, of course. Yup, it was childish of me. But you forgive me. "bless those who curse you."
WattdeFalk · 70-79, M
My accidentally deleted post above said self-righteous Krissshuns ignore the verse "the last shall be first, and the first last," plus all the warnings from Jesus to the Pharisees about public displays of religion, at great risk... may not pay to be so sure that you're saved and that you know who isn't, simply because they don't practice your rituals like bible-worship.
