Jesus' most painful wound on the cross? [Spirituality & Religion]

I don't know bout the rib cage one, but having your feet nailed must be simply terrible.

Oh and I read that he probably was only 5'1. What an impressive tiny man!

Since I'm posting in the religion section, I'm bracing myself for a shit storm.
The physical pain Jesus suffered is ineffable. Even so, I believe it was the horrible pain of taking on every single person's sins in the whole world on his shoulders and in his heart, that was the most painful. We'll never know the pain nor burden of that, in reality.

5'1" was probably pretty average. Historians say that people were averagely short in the past and that we've grown quite a bit. Hence why a lot of older houses from the 1800's and earlie have smaller doorways and ceilings.
Yep. I live in a house that's 300 years old, so...

I honestly think the mental aspect, the feeling of abandonment, (Father, why have you forsaken me?), would've been more painful than any of the physical wounds.
Sure, he was only human after all. There is speculation about his last words. One theory says that he didn't say it because he felt abandoned, but in lieu of all the other people who felt forsaken by God.

@LunaInvicta: interesting. I myself believe in God, but not religion.

Feet and hands especially have high representation on the sensory cortex

The spear wound alone would have been enough to kill him.
It is physically impossible to be held up on a cross by nails threw your feet and hands (or wrists) and the crown of thorns would have been only deep enough to make him bleed.
Well yeah, they suffocated in the end, so...
Chances are his wounds would have attracted birds before he died and they would have started pecking at him while still alive.
@Ax17x7: Good for him he passed out pretty quickly!

Mythology and all.
It was a common means of execution in the time

I had reconstructive surgery on my leg and foot and I literally had nails in them both and yes it is horrific.
Oh dear, sorry to hear. I hope you're alright now?!

@LunaInvicta: It's not perfect, but better than it was :) Don't take your working legs for granted :)
@pianoplayingsteve: I definitely don't! Glad you're ok.
