Forcing your children to go to church and believe in religion is so wrong [Spirituality & Religion]

lucetta12 · 36-40, F
This why so many kids are fucked up. They are forced to do shit they don't want to do and can't have their own opinion. They need to think for themselves and use their own brain. You shouldn't be forced to do something you don't want to do. It's the parents religion not the child's. Don't try and force someone to believe in your shit.

And to force them everything is imaginary
TheWombRaider · 26-30, M
exactly. awful parenting
Fernie · F
The minute we are born they tell us what to believe,,,what religion to follow...then many spend their lives doing that and defending something.. beliefs they did not choose. It's sick imo
TheWombRaider · 26-30, M
It is sick!

it can do more damage than good ,as a kid i believed that god created me ,god loves me and god will protect me .if i believe and i am a good kid . when the daily abuse started i hung onto the belief that god would save me ,hung onto it for years ,but the abuse never stopped so i decided that it must be my fault that god didn't save me ,stuff like this can screw up a kids mind .why wasn't i taught god can't save me?

Because everyone wants us to be followers and do the same thing over and over again on repeat. I don't believe in God but I have read the bible and it basically says that God hated everything on the planet including animals and wanted everything to die. It says he made a mistake and wanted to kill everybody. That makes to sense because if he created us how can he not destroy us? It's because it isn't real. None of that is real. It was created for people to believe in Something.

@lucetta12: i still believe ,just not in the bullshit people are taught. i believe god created us and then said your on your own .too many horrible things happen for it to be true
shadowplay · 22-25, M
it's wrong to force lies onto them ,of any faith.
I can tell you do not live in the southern US. Lucky you lol
TheWombRaider · 26-30, M
I live in England. Im safe here lol
@TheWombRaider: lucky lucky you. I live in the south. I don't want my kids brought up with any religion until they're old enough to decide for themselves. Here, it's madness.

@CallmeHopelessNotRomantic: Finally, an American with sense, and morality!

Religious parents will see it differently. It makes sense to them to not pay for a sitter. It makes sense to them to at least impart the need to become a moral person. I hated church as much as the next person, but I can see reasons to take the kids along.
TheWombRaider · 26-30, M
They see it differently because they grew up being forced into it too most likely, brainwashed
SW-User
@TheWombRaider: I think 'brainwashing' is a term best associated with forced confinement and deprivation. People go to church because that's what they like, and kids are often just not into it.
Yh you should let them decide for themselves
Enchanted · 56-60, F
Forcing? Depends what you mean by that?

Parents need to raise their children as they see fit...they have a job to do steeing you in a direction that they believe in.

When you are of age, then you decide.
TheWombRaider · 26-30, M
They have no idea what religion is about at a young age, they have no choice in the matter about whether they attend church or not, that is being forced into religion

Such wisdom from someone so young. (They teach sarcasm in England, yeah?)
TheWombRaider · 26-30, M

Who's forcing anyone?
TheWombRaider · 26-30, M
The countless number of parents who make their children go to church every Sunday without the child having a clue what it's about

@Stereoguy: Your laws? You mean where people can walk around shooting up schools and thinking it's okay to discriminate against gay people because it's not in the laws of religion? Okaaaay
