@UnparalleledMonster: it's a bit of both. i know it's confusing. but you need to believe and have faith, but faith without works is dead. if you go around murduring people, that's obviously not ok. learning all this is a journey, if you think you know it all, you have so much more to learn. i'm still comprehending it. as the book of john starts , there was the word and the word was with he and he was as the word , so as Jesus is the Almighty's Living Word he was with God from the beginning in spirit but became as flesh later on for a short while and then returned to God so the helper (Holy Spirit) could help mankind , so Jesus was even before Adam and Eve just not in the flesh yet , as far as your Q goes whether before Jesus or after his birth we are treated by the judgements of God in his time and Judgement must be before Hell is assigned so Purgatory or in holding may be evident but hey who really knows except God

Jesus was not the only messenger of the GOD neither the Jesus was the first or last one. There were thousands of GOD messengers before Jesus with similar messages, which with time corrupted by humans along with GOD messages via Jesus.
