Are you a hard core atheist? [Spirituality & Religion]

Or you think it's possible that spiritual beings could exist?
SW-User
I still don't know what "spiritual" actually means. Can anyone explain?
SW-User
I think it's related to everything that goes beyond the physical (measurable physically) but still has an impact in our physical and emotional life
Ynotisay · M
Pretty hardcore.
That said, I do think our brains have yet to fully evolve. I think there may be some perceptions humans can access millions of years from now (if our species survives) that we can't today. So some things people call "spiritual" will actually be physiological.
okay. I was trying to have discourse but you do not want to tell me anything. I didn't say you should ask, I said you should tell me. Since apparently you have me all figured out, just like I have you all figured out
Ynotisay · M
@funintheaun: OK. But here's what I know as a guy with a few more years behind me.
People don't ask questions about religion without already having an opinion formulated. I say there is no spiritual presence and there is no god. That's your opportunity to say, "Yeah...but." In essence, that's what you did with your first response to me.
Get it?
I understand that. I've understood that. But I also understand that telling someone they're wrong is going to change nothing. I was not telling you that you're wrong, perhaps just trying to grow in understanding myself. Why should we care about the future, a future on which we will know no one? You're name suggests that you question things. I was asking questions. And I'm sorry for offending you
I think you could also say though that there's no reason to assume that God doesn't love us. Agnostics have no faith. It's basically like "I don't know!"

Or maybe my understanding of agnosticism is just wrong, but I feel as if this meme or whatever doesn't accurately depict agnosticism

@funintheaun: There's faith in oneself, in ones friends and family, in your nation, humanity, the future. Why is it only "faith" if it only applies to a supernatural being?
that's true. I meant in regards to a supernatural being. I suppose I didn't specify
Yes, hard core atheist here. I don't believe in any metaphysical systems including "spiritual beings" whatever that means.

I think that this Universe is far more complicated for my human brain to comprehend.I do believe that there is ''something'' but I can't define it. I think people who claim that their religion is the right/only one are self-righteous,arrogant and narrow minded, probably a product of child indoctrination and I don't think that they are particularly wise. I think that wise people admit that they don't have a clue about what's going on in this universe(I don't think anyone does)and strive towards gathering more knowledge. On the other hand I don't think atheism is logical.. There are just too many ''coincidences''.
perhaps the idea that people think their religion is right comes from the idea that there is one truth. So I suppose you buy into the moral relativist ideology?

I think perhaps one should believe that their religion is the fullest revealed form of truth, yet that other religions contain many of the same truths

I think it's possible that something resembling what we would call "spiritual" beings exist as life on other planets. However, if they do exist, they would be explainable by science, and in no way supernatural.
firefall · 61-69, M
The two aren't in theory in conflict - atheism is about belief that no god exists, not that there are no non-corporeal beings of any sort.
SW-User
No. I can't seem to muster the passion required to be hard-core anything.
SW-User
Hehe... Good, so you think spiritual beings exist?
SW-User
@MrMarcus: I haven't seen proof that they do and they aren't exactly disproved entirely. No solid opinion.
SW-User
possible, yes..but I need proof if I'm gonna live by a certain set of rules because of it.

I am an agnostic atheist. I do not believe in any gods. As for spiritual things, I would need a definition.

Agnostic refers to knowledge. A = without, gnostic = knowedge.

Atheism refers to belief. A = without, theism = belief in gods.

In other words, I do not know of any gods nor do I believe in any gods. There's a slim chance one or more exist but there's also a slim chance Russell's teapot is real too.
WithClouds · 36-40, M
I'm not a hardcore anything, other than music fan; I think spiritual, ethereal, cosmic beings are quite real, and we can be punished in this life for failing to acknowledge them..
WithClouds · 36-40, M
@MrMarcus: And you as well, I presume?
SW-User
@WithClouds: yes 😄. I am not like really devoted to it, but I practice meditation and I really like its philosophy
WithClouds · 36-40, M
Same here!! <3 I'm not devoted to any specific religion or philosophy, but the Buddhists beliefs are right up my alley! I meditate as well, and practice other breath control techniques. I also am quite interested in astral projection, out of body experiences, near death experiences, and psychedelic therapy. Among other things : ]
KingofPizza2 · 36-40, M
I think it's possible but I'm gonna need some serious evidence.
coolboy86 · 36-40, M
who fucking knows
SW-User
You are supposed to
coolboy86 · 36-40, M
I don't know no one knows
TexChik · F
Absolutely not an atheist. I am a Christian.
LoveChild · 26-30, F
Strong vs weak atheism isn't the challenge.
High vs low atheism is.
A high atheist reasons a natural form of 'afterlife'.
The low atheist doesn't.
I do believe there is a spiritual world apart from us. I dont know if I believe in Adam and Eve.
SW-User
I also think so, but I Adam and Eve is another story lol
I can really understand atheits and their thoughts. I am open-minded about many things but I believe in God.
madasalizard · 36-40, M
I am just a bog standard atheist.
I'm
A believer of Torah
SW-User
Wow, I have never met anyone who believed in the Torah before :)
Carver · 31-35, F
