What do you think? [Spirituality & Religion]

Religion has played its part for a lot of violence and intolerance in its long history. Despite all the the flaws it possesses, I don't think it would make a great difference if religion never existed. With the diversity of mankind and our beliefs in other systems; I belief we'd find other scapegoats to enact hatred.

Religion can and has been used to incite violence and oppression through the ages, true, but it's also been used to calm, heal, administer aid, give hope and provide very actual resources and services the rest of us are "too busy" to extend.

Perception; you have to decide what elements to concentrate on.

It's not "religion" per se, but PEOPLE who enact violence. My religion hasn't got a violent bone in its body. In fact, we are thrown into prison when we refuse to take up arms and kill our fellow man in most other countries, even today as I type this. Long ago America had the same viewpoint. Thankfully this has changed here in the states.
