Will the POTUS be impeached over the Russian links?

And if the corruption is proven, will his supporters accept it as fair?
The Constitution gives the House of Representatives the sole power to impeach an official, and it makes the Senate the sole court for impeachment trials.

Considering the House and Senate have a Republican majority it is highly doubtful that an impeachment will take place without concrete blaring evidence.

Got evidence? There are three congressional investigations underway but the Democrats are pressing for an independent study. Without an independent study, the work will be done outside of public view. Republicans continue to refuse to consider this independent option.

Without this study, the Trump administration will continue to be under extreme scrutiny by the individuals he continues to condemn - the media and intelligence agencies.

The media, intelligence agencies and countless protestors (keeping their congressman accountable) will stall the ManBaby and cause his demise. This is the very tip of the iceberg that will sink Trump.

An informative analysis. Thank you.

Unless, as I pointed out elsewhere, that the Establishment GOP decides to toss the loose cannon aside and place their inside man, Pence, into the Big Chair. Honestly, it's a win/win scenario for them.

I don't think so. He's spinning already. It's about the leaks, as he says. That's the key issue.

He's in campaign mode, never left it.

His answer to a reporter's question, during the Netanyahu joint press conference; I won by 302 electoral votes? Not on the same universe with question they asked.

Three weeks only , and all he's worthy of now is ridicule.

@pezzza: Its been 6 months, surely?

Will the Republican President be impeached by a Republican-controlled Congress? No.

And his supporters will not accept any proof at all as conclusive: in the face of reason, logic, & evidence. They've made that very plain already.

Regarding impeachment : Surely there comes a point when the de facto evidence demands a full and independent investigation though. Your thoughts ?
firefall · 61-69, M
@pezzza: IOKIYAR. Given the unreasoning opposition they thwarted Obama with, I really don't expect any investigation, while they control Congress, no matter how egregious the offense & evidence is: too many of the Republican leadership have shown they are literally without shame. At best, if the evidence gets too pressing, they'll start generating more and more alternative facts that counteract it: just look at how Climate Change has been handled for an example.

It is important to get the truth out, wherever it leads. Trump/Bannon supporters will never accept corruption, even if proven, but I think enough Republicans will. Impeachment is possible, but not for a long, long time, and only if proof is very evident. Even Watergate took several years and much digging to get to the truth. You can bet the Trump/Bannon team is doing everything possible to stop any investigation, as well as leaks.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Burnley123: Apparently there are taped phone calls and transcripts, so those will be hard to "lose" completely. You can bet that multiple copies have been made and sequestered to inhibit any purge.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@windinhishair: We can expect this to run and run. There will never be a *dull* moment, however long it lasts.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Burnley123: That is a certainty. There will be endless turmoil as long as Bannon/Trump is in place.

Maybe/No
The relevant question is 'Why are liberals and leftists who claim Trump is a fascist so fond of deep state (that nobody has elected) right now?. Who are the real fascists?'
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Cierzo: Reasonable point about the Saudi's. I see this less as an issue about a foreign power, more about corrupt practice. Hacking a opponents campaign is a modern Watergate. Obviously the DNC are also corrupt and that was one of the main things revealed. Still, hacking your opponents private data should not be fair electoral practice.
Cierzo · M
@Burnley123: I agree on that. But is it really about hacking? I just hear rants about the Russians
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Cierzo: I have said all along (and even posted questions to say) that evidence should be public for it to be acted upon. All we have now is smoke and mirrors. It is VERY thick smoke and VERY shiny mirrors but nonetheless we need hard proof. I think evidence probably exists but we need to see it.

I am refraining from commenting about the new POTUS after that famous evening a few nights ago when us Brits were indirectly referred to as 'wankers' for daring to have an opinion on another country's leader. Staying in the box for this one!

It was more recent and someone else was the main target. I nearly contacted the UN Security Council. I think you came in somewhere near the end when everyone had already had enough.

@Curiosity: I can't remember but i'm curious.. Please could you post a link. PM me if you like. ☺

I think it was Monday night. Is there a quick way of searching? Difficult when I can't remember the guy's name.

President Of E_____ The United States.

Can you please fill in the blank...? I have no clue what it stands for.
GwydionFrost · 56-60, M
@Burnley123: Paint him as a communist sympathizer, and his base turns on him. After all, they are only chopping the head off the hydra. His team was pretty much hand picked FOR him, by Pence and his friends. Pence won't change that. ;)
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@GwydionFrost: Hmm... some of the priorities with Trump's team and the GOP are different but some overlap. I'm sure the Republicans are shit scared like passengers of a crazy driver. They don't know what to do though.
GwydionFrost · 56-60, M
@Burnley123: It is with great irony that I point out that this mirrors the Tea Party issue. Back then, when they first appeared, the Republicans practically bent over, promising that they'd do anything for the Tea Party. I warned people-- Watch out-- they've just grabbed a tiger by the tail, and don't even realize it.

I was right.

Guess what I've been saying since Trump started pulling the big numbers during the primaries...?

Yep. You guessed it.

Possibly that the POETUS has to impeach. But at least some of his supporters will NEVER accept it as fair because some of them really like it to forgive the POETUS EVERYTHING.

I should fucking hope so, then tar and feather that sonofabitch!

I'll say it's unlikely for both things to happen.
