All news contains some form or value judgement so perfect objectivity is impossible. As we know, every news organisation has some form of political agenda even if some are less explicit about it.

There is though an important difference between that and 'fake news' though. Fake News makes no attempt at factual analysis at all and is based explicitly and entirely around what the audience wants. Even bias news sources make some kind of argument based on fact and reason, with some level of journalistic standards.

Its perhaps a deliberate ploy of the Trump team to drive up the level of cynicism in America, so that all news is seen as equally bias and equally fake. In this state, all opinions would be equally right or wrong and fake news would claim its ultimate victory.

You should be skeptical of any news source and be aware of bias. That does not mean however that you should ever deny an argument only because it has bias or only because you disagree with it. Objective reality does exist and facts do matter. Its a case of being skeptical without blanket cynicism. In a world where facts don't matter at all the biggest bullshitter is king.

Slightly more than half already see it. And 40% of the people will never see it.

@EarthlingWise: Agreed. Its a classic case of the underlying assumptions being wrong. The UK 92 election was badly predicted because of 'shy Tory' voters. Support for our Conservative party was seen as selfish so people were less honest to pollsters about their intentions. I think something similar happened with Trump.

@pezzza: The national polls weren't that far off--on the eve of the election, they had Clinton the winner by 2 to 4 percentage points. She carried the popular vote by 2.1%, which is within that range. Where the polls were most off was in state-wide polling, where there are far fewer polls. And it was the states that gave Trump the victory in the Electoral College.
