What do you think about Representative John Lewis not accepting Donald Trump as the legitimate POTUS?

Poll - Total Votes: 12
The polls look right. I see no surprise here.
It was MSNBC; what do you expect.
It doesn't matter what Lewis thinks.
Trump is facing some real hard times with the enemies he has made.

You may vote on multiple answers.
MSNBC conducted a Poll asking whether Jon Lewis should accept Trump as POTUS.
The results shocked me.
91% agreed that Lewis should keep his view on Trump as an illegitimate President.
77% were Republicans.
97% were women of all parties.

Many of us have not agreed with other choices for President in the past. But, as an American I respected those choices. We can always change the way our Presidents are chosen if we demand changes in the voting method.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
@Pfuzylogic: I am sure he is. And he should if he feels the election was not legitimate.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
@SweetMae: Representative John Lewis deserves our respect.
Pfuzylogic · M
@SweetMae: Amen!
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Why are you shocked ?
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Desperately sad. Especially since you don't really know what is going to be driving his foreign policy !
What will drive his economic policy !(bearing in mind he wants how many millionaires in his cabinet ?)
How is he going to tackle the deficit; unemployment; an ever aging population that need care provision; ever rising prison numbers; etc etc.
Major problems but no solutions or ideas on HOW to tackle them.
I think what really bugs folk is this.
If Trump had run and won as an independent. We'd ALL be stood applauding right now !!
One in the eye for the political elite ! An independent who deserves support ! Yes ?
But he didn't ! He won as a Republican party chosen candidate !
So now we're all thinking......why in the hell would they think Donald Trump is the best candidate for the biggest job in the world ???
And THAT IS a worry !!

@Picklebobble2:
I do appreciate your well thought out concerns.

What is particularly intimidating is that a large number of cabinet picks are Billionaires!
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Pfuzylogic: All set to take advantage of inside information that will possibly make them all very happy !

Mr Lewis has earned the right to express his opinions openly.
Pfuzylogic · M
He is a Civil Rights living legend.
peachykeen · F
@Pfuzylogic: He is indeed. It's sad, in this day and age, most people do not know the history of Mr Lewis because a. they are too young b. they have had a terrible education or b. they have been fed a daily diet of subterfuge.
Pfuzylogic · M
@peachykeen: I know what you mean. Many do not get the right story since they use "truthers" as their news source!

It's documented that Trump was assisted by the Russians to win the election. No, Trump is not a legitimate Potus and John Lewis is correct.
Pfuzylogic · M
@Ptolemy: I will agree with her. These documents are not public but the investigations have started. Just because Trump doesn't use the CIA and prefers Wikileaks doesn't mean that he will be protected by the political winds of DC.
Ptolemy · M
You have to be able to see that it seems fishy that they "have documents that aren't public" now.

After months of the FBI, and intelligence community saying there was no evidence of interference, including days and weeks after the election.

Even president Obama on Nov. 28 I think had a press conference and said the elections over there was nothing innapropriate and that people need to get over it. (Pretty sure he was pointing that at trump)

Then suddenly "there was interfererence"... where, how?

And after giving trump so much grief about not accepting the results its a real eye opener.

Its to easy to make a serious claim and then claim "national security" because there is no way to respond to it.

If there was "influence" what was it and where"?

And if they are going to be sanctions, what are we then saying about our involvement in Israels last election. Or all the money that was donated to Hillary Clinton's campaign from foreign donors? Is that not an attempt to influence an election?

This isn't a simple issue but you have to consider both sides.
Ptolemy · M
Still have seen no evidence he was "assisted"
SweetMae · 70-79, F
It doesn't really matter what he thinks. It only matters what kind of job Trump does while in office.
Pfuzylogic · M
Trump has won in a very polarizing time.
It does matter if he gets support if he wants to accomplish anything.
Witness the Cabinet hearings and how his candidates are getting grilled. They might not be approved.
Ptolemy · M
I wonder if 97% of voters know who Jon lewis is or give a flying fuck about his opinion.

Let's rewrite this in the form of a riddle.

What would happen if Jon lewis got his panties in a bunch and doesn't want trump to be president?

Nothing, nothing at all happens. Why are we talking about it.
Ptolemy · M
Wasn't talking about trump. Was talking about america.

And any Russian legislation has no bearing on trump. He had nothing to do with it, as opposed to taking millions from foreign entities and special interests.

If they want to come at him with that then the legality of private servers and a hell of a lot more is going to come out.

I think one of us will be surprised. Maybe it will be me but either way, I don't give two shits about the opinion of Jon lewis or anyone on MSNBC
Pfuzylogic · M
@Ptolemy:

You are more than entitled to your belief.

I see the nation in a huge divide that will set itself as an obstacle for anything he wants to accomplish for America.

Obstructionism will be the way for his term since he has isolated Republicans and Democrats.
Ptolemy · M
Thanks, and I respect your opinion as well.

But I don't think he has isolated anyone except those that refuse to accept a few realities.

1. that he BEAT Hillary Clinton. There was no voter fraud and "fake news" is relative considering CNN's recent record. Not mention all the scandal on the other side.

#2 he won because America liked that he cut through the bullshit and didn't compromise on important issues.

He may not accomplish all his agenda- but I guarantee no other agenda will be accomplished instead.

#3 Since he announced his campaign it has been nothing but "he has no chance", "he is a joke" etc.
Its always definitive negatives against him.

Yet here he is, he wasn't my first choice and I am not a fan per say- but I am not betting against him now.

I agree with him
Pfuzylogic · M
He definitely took a position directly opposite Trump. It is easy seeing him following his conscience though.
SW-User
@Pfuzylogic: I have a lot of respect for John Lewis and he's right ...period ! Trump blatantly just talks out his ass ...he's incredibly ignorant!
Pfuzylogic · M
@Chernobylplayground: He reaffirmed it with Tweets following Representative Lewis' position. Trump has made so many enemies on his way to POTUS, he will be fortunate to get anything accomplished.
Fernie · F
nonsense...fake poll. A huge Percentage of us will not accept that toxic troll as POTUS
Ptolemy · M
No, I question the need for the poll.
And the legitimacy of the network as a "news" source.
Pfuzylogic · M
@Ptolemy: What do you use as a legitimate source of News or do you have a problem with the question presented?
Ptolemy · M
I prefer to get as many facts as i can through any source, then make my own decisions.

There are plenty of ways to look at the facts or statements without having to be told what to think by a talking head.

The problem with news networks, all of them but some worse than others, is that they have an agenda or a bias.

Anyone can claim that MSNBC is "fair and balanced", but your delusional. You can tell by the main stories and how they word things. Those agent an accident.
AND THAT GOES FOR FOX NEWS AS WELL.

For example, the john lewis question.

Why not ask something like this "rep Jon lewis has made his position clear, do you think its time to come together as a country and try to do better from here?"

Instead they went for a devicive question that accomplishes nothing but getting people thinking that the rest of the world agrees with them.

The truth is MSNBC viewership is so bad that its completely misleading anyway.
SW-User
No ones a shit about lewis. We're too busy making america great again.

Pfuzylogic · M
@thescalpmaster2: I am glad after your first election you can claim wisdom.
Watch your hero shoot himself in the foot.

@Burnley123: The action has been initiated in the House. We shall see if they are successful in taking health insurance away from 20 million.
Goralski · 51-55, M
Like trump said he should worry about his ghetto kingdom. ..im paraphrasing
Pfuzylogic · M
You are close. He does seem to be taking the edge off his initial statement when he became critical of the progress of Atlanta.
Goralski · 51-55, M
@Pfuzylogic: haaaaaa he's all tact
Pfuzylogic · M
@Goralski: Some things will never change. 😂
