Are the CIA happy age did to Castro what they failed to do?

Just woke up to the news and even though he was 90 I'm shocked. Almost thought he'd never die. Seemed indestructible with all the assassination attempts he survived.

I have quite mixed feelings about him, but even though I am not at all a leftist, I think as a whole I may feel positive towards him.
The blockage Cuba suffered was simply unacceptable. However, not being a rich country at all, Cuba is in a better situation than other countries in the area, with no illiteracy and a good health system.
Certainly I sympathise him much more than the hypocrite 'leftist' liberal progressives of today speaking all the time of democracy and tolerance, but only if you agree with them.

Yeah, Castro walked the walk and you have to respect him for that. He had the courage of his convictions.

Very much agree although I am a lefty but I wouldn't call myself a "liberal". Certainly not in a modern-day sense of the word anyway.

Wow, I thought he was going to live forever too!

I don't think it makes any difference if he's alive or not. His son has been in power for like years
I thought it was his brother...

yeah. oops.

It makes a difference as he still treated the new formed US relations with suspicion and even when not in power just his opinion means a lot and now the US will shove the new "friendly relationship" down their throats.
True. He outlived several who tried to kill him.
