Will Sanctuary Cities stop Trump in his tracks?

The largest cities in the United States are "Sanctuary Cities" for the immigrants that do not have citizenship yet. In Chicago and most similar Cities they are allowed in public schooling, summer jobs offered by the city and even education in community colleges.

Chicago receives 1,000,000,000 federal funding annually that could be withdrawn.
The list of immigrants not processed properly is 3,000,000 that would be marked to be exported.

The Sanctuary City list is huge with Democratic Mayors that don't want to use their police officers as "de facto" immigration officers.
Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, San Feancisco, Philadelphia, Oakland, Seattle, Washington DC, Providence, Sante Fe, Seattle, and Denver and 100s of other cities.

Many cities prefer not to threaten immigrants with unknown status because of crime that would remain unreported.

Can Trump really solve this problem with immigrants if all the mayors are trenched in the current status of protecting them?

Don't know. Can the cities get along without federal funding?

So to cap this off: Which needs what the most? Does Trump need the support of the big cities (votes) or do the big cities need Trump (fed money)

@hippyjoe1955: who knows what lies in the cards? Might be an interesting upcoming summer.

@hippyjoe1955: trump didn't get the big city votes so apparently he doesn't need em but all the cities listed would probably go bankrupt without the federal money

I'm a big believer of state and to some extent city rights.. and if they want to resist, let em. If hillary was elected there would be quite a few states that would have totally ignored her agenda and i would have supported that too. It is the united *states* of america. We are originally intended to be citizens of individual states not citizens of the federal government located in the district of Colombia (f u misinterpreted and dubiously semi-ratified 14th amendment). I do believe our opposimg beliefs as a nation have sadly become irreconcilable at this point. Nothing but viscous fighting and dirty tricks from hear on out.

I agree. I think that there will be protests and whatever comes from that. The LEA showed restraint through the first round of protests regarding the election of Trump. Hopefully they remain peaceful and the stakes are lowered.

Ever since the 80s, politics plays itself out as confrontation as opposed to negotiation and deal making. This might be coming to a head.

Lets not forget they also get food stamps and housing vouchers which is illegal under federal law

@Pfuzylogic:if one applies the city/state takes care of d paper work in chicagos case it doesn't matter that you're illegal they'll still file on your behalf so you can collect the money

@Goralski: I don't think the Mayors of the cities I have listed will "go quietly in that good night". I see this as a very open conflict later.
Goralski · 51-55, M
@Pfuzylogic: no doubt

So certain cities expect to ignore US law? Won't that just produce a situation like Detroit where state governors are put in charge?
Pfuzylogic · M
It is the Urban area that is the bane of his presidency.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
If the cities want federal help, they will.
Pfuzylogic · M
It seems that many Mayors are determined to stand up to Trump and most of votes in Urban areas were pro Clinton especially California.
You can't stump Trump
Pfuzylogic · M
I wonder if Trump has given thought to Mayors standing up to him.
