I Own a Special Necklace

A brass cross necklace that originally belonged to my maternal grandmother. All of my grandparents died before I was even alive and she was the last one to go just two weeks before I was born. Before she died, she asked my parents to keep her cross necklace so they could give it to me. So my parents let me have it when I was old enough and I've kept it with me ever since. Even though I'm not religious, I try not to look at it as a religious symbol and rather as an heirloom that belonged to my grandmother. I've always regretted that I never got a chance to meet any of my grandparents, especially my maternal grandmother. But at least I have something that was valuable to her with me.
