The Galaxy class starship seen throughout The Next Generation was widely accepted in Starfleet and The Federation as a technological failure?

Yes it was a top of the line ship, but it certainly wasn't one of the better ones out there.

In fact the only ships that were named Enterprise that were successful in Starfleet at the time were the NX-class, Constitution Class, Excelsior Refit Class and Sovereign Class 🤓
