I rather like the idea mooted in the book
The five people you meet in Heaven.
Mitch Albom's story tells of a loving couple who work at a fairground all their lives.
After she dies. Her husband grows older and weaker with time.
On his last day on earth, he continues his routine until an accident sees him grasp the hands of a child in peril.
He dies. On his way to Heaven, he meets four characters from his past and must come to terms with what he did to them at the time he met them.
Ultimately he grows younger as the story progresses. Until at the end, he is a young man again. Working with his young wife at the fairground where they first met.
It's his happy memory.
I like that idea!
Living out eternity within a happy memory from your past.

LOretta78: I believe that love is a form of energy and that cannot die, it can only be transferred. Love is the one thing we have in this life that we take with us when we leave this world.

@HankStone: Understanding of scientific theories will not suggest an answer any better than knowing how to play the piano teaches one how to swim. Look to some combination of disciplines for proper overview.

So many doubters. There is an afterlife of sorts and it has been proved. People just talk and talk without ever learning.

@kingkyrie: Yes- proved. My friend Lucy is an expert on this. It has to do with quantifying scenarios and making onuses to prove much tougher. The short story is we live an infinite series of lifetimes courtesy of how a multiverse must operate. There is also scientific evidence in support of the conclusion(s).

@kingkyrie: Don't give up hope. There are many things the general public is unaware of as yet. And science usually lags far behind the conclusions of reason; an important point.

@SuperCute The Infinite Multiverse theory posits that every possible incarnation of the universe has branched off from the main incarnation of the universe at the intersection point of every variable.

This doesn't mean we live after we die.

It just means that our moment of death in this universe will not be our moment of death in a whole host of other universes.

And that's if the theory is true.

It's just the end .. So don't waste your life.

Can you imagine how pointless an after-life would be? You get 100 years tops to make good or bad decisions which somehow result in eternal rewards or punishments.

That's smacks of being made up by people. An actual diety would be thinking way longer term.

There absolutely is. We just don't recall past lives because that would not make this existence perfect. Memories are kept in the brain. When the body dies, so does the brain, along with it our memories. This is just another opportunity to experience something new. We will incarnate at a place and time that is equal to the level of awareness we had when our time was up on our bodies. It could be born again in 10 minutes or 10,000 years but from our perspective may only feel like a few minutes because "time" is only experienced in this physical plain we are currently in.

@kingkyrie: This kind of instant shutting down and shutting out is exactly what happens in the world. People just refuse to listen and learn. There is no inquisitiveness or patience.
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
I am fully agree with you. Indeed there are many things who cannot be explained... I think this would be a very interesting topic to discuss.
Jon2403 · 61-69, M
the body does decay so you end up being food for the bugs but its your soul or your being thats the question what really happens too you
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
I believe that our death is not the end. What do you believe, caesar7?

It's like a sleep you're never gonna wake up from.
I believe in the afterlife

@SuperCute, It's not about shutting down ore not willing, who wouldn't live an afterlife, if possible? It's about reason and ratio, there isn't any scientific reason to think there would be an afterlife ore something like a God concept.

I'm very interested in the paranormal, as I've experienced it. However, I'm not convinced that the spirits of dead people are among us.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I believe there is an afterlife, and I'm not scared of dying. I had a wonderful experience when I was 14 that just verified it for me.
SW-User
@SuperCute; the fact your friend is an expert and just, "there's scientific evidence", didn't convince me till now, sorry...
Jonathan · 31-35, M
It'll be like the billions of years before we were born, a sleep that never ends.
SW-User
@Supercute; It's proved?
That's new to me lol!
caesar7 · 61-69, M
I would like to believe we do...look at all we have developed over time and still continue to progress....it must mean something. People including myself have these reoccuring thoughts of instances that I have been here before or other circumstances that cannot be explained.....so weird. maybe there is some truth that you remember things that had happened in your past life. Why do we keep evolving at an incredibly fast pace and other creatures don't? So many questions isn't there
