Manga artists: I have a 13yr old niece that I know loves manga art, is learning and has room to grow, looking for a Christmas present: should I get

It depends on what you are willing to spend. Professional quality markers made for anime are best, but they are pricey. Don't get alcohol based markers. Prismacolor has brushtip markers that are really good, but they are about $4 each. My recommendation would be Prismacolor colored pencils. They are still expensive, but much cheaper than the markers. They are also better for newer artists. Besides, you can get 40% off coupons at Michael's. It makes them more reasonable.

Mmm. Why not both? Sounds like a good gift, to me. Further fuel her interest in art. I'm not a manga artist, but seems to me that you would need both. Markers for general filling, and pencils for detail.

You COULD get her ProMarkers, but they can be tricky to get the hang of, and you need special marker or ProMarker paper to make sure the paper doesn't suck out all the ink in them.
Get her Manga Color pencil kit, and possibly some good inking pens.

I am not a manga artist but used to draw that style when I was younger :) Both sound good but what kind of markers is it? I think she would very much appreciate either one! 😊

Tombow dual,prismacolor or copic markers are great for manga..at 13,water soluble is probably a good idea😊
