For the perhaps older folk:

Have you reached a point in your life where you don't have the energy or inclination to make and keep new friends?
Picklebobble · 56-60, M
I am, largely, self sufficient.
Life is lonely. But I don't have time for things most folk see as recreational friend stuff.
Coffee with a neighbour; drinks with a friend at the pub; meals or events out.
I work a five and a half day week.
Mostly nights !
Plus I'm in an area that is a bit remote from the nearest big town.
It's not my idea of fun (whatever THAT is !)
But it's where I have to be for now.
Ordinarily it doesn't bug me too much.
Yet, here I am. 00:45 on a Saturday night. At home.

Not so much the energy, it's the fact I don't trust people

I'm 26, and I reached that point a long time ago.

I'll tell you something about old age. People come and go. I enjoy their company, but I don't get attached. Old friends die. New friends have families and careers to keep them busy, and not a lot of time for friends.
VeronicaPrincess · 61-69
I make new friends every day! Well, sort of - they'll say I already know them, but I can't remember 🤔

If they can keep up with me I will give them Hot Wheel stickers to put on their walkers :)

Sweeeeet! 😝
I'm at that point now. o_o
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
hell i did that in my 20s. i got tired of the b.s., drama and game playing.

i told them i was a drag.. what part of that did they not understand.

once in a blue moon i'm haunted by some of them and i wonder "good god how do they do it?"
rottenrobi · 56-60, F
Like many of the answers say, I think I was more against meeting people when I was younger. Now that i'm older, I'm much more relaxed and open to whatever/whomever comes into my life.

That's music to my ears.

Yes. I can no longer stand the boring trivialities of normal life. In fact, I hate being human, it stifles all my freedom, life in this world, being attached to your body is a ball and chain. I love my mind more than my body and it's heritage. In a sense, I have such a hatred of the human condition that nobody could relate to me.

@Cavedweller: I'm impressed that I still can!

Especially if they come with excess baggage,I have enough problems without their drama.
walabby · 61-69, M
