Table tennis covers - affordable and waterproof

I'm reading reviews of table tennis covers and people are complaining about rubbish materials falling apart or not weatherproof. I'm thinking it just has to be something to cover it and stay on.
Table will sit on covered verandah - but it can get rain blowing in.
Looking for cost-effective ideas that can withstand wind and rain.

@Fluffybull I took your tip. Bought a tarp from a small company online, heavy duty and properly waterproof and exact size for more than half the price it would have cost to buy the recommended 'table tennis covers' that reviews said weren't waterproof/ fell apart or tore/ created condensation...

@SStarfish ...the characteristics of a standard table, probably. The coating is standard, and you want a good surface for the balls to react as one is used to.

Hmmmm...have you thought about a bamboo screen, one of those which roll up to provide some privacy? When you mention wind, this would cut that and rain.

If you needed to, you could add a backing.

Having those at the edge of the veranda would give you an option to keep more weather out/away from the house.

Another option would be a waterproof curtain hanging from an overhead track; think of a hospital curtain's track, but with a water-proof curtain material.

Cover it with some plastic clear wrapping to keep it dry.

@Senecaa I didn't realize the plastic thing until my Dad told me MANY years ago:

• clear plastic gets condensation on the INside,

• black plastic gets it on the OUTside.

(Makes sense thermodynamically, too:

• clear plastic [i]loses[/i] the heat (it simply passes through & gets out); so it tends to be cooler, so you get condensation on that cooler INside.

• black plastic [i]retains[/i] the heat (reflects it back), so it tends to be warmer, so you get condensation on the cooler OUTside.

So you usually want to use black plastic, not clear, if it is going to be outside.
