I'll wait for the happy ending.

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely."

When it comes to dealing with self righteous hypocrites. Yeah, and proud of it.

@Carazaa
I like to believe I’m serving the truth. Religion wants everyone to be afraid of what isn’t there.

DocSavage · M
Do you realize this whole mess could have been avoided if god had simply put up a fence.?
Eve couldn’t have gotten the fruit off the tree. There would be no fall, no sin, no need for nail Jesus up ,no need for the second coming , no rapture.
All for a lack of a few yards of chicken wire.

@newjaninev2 If all life on this planet is related, it's possible abiogenesis has only ever occurred once, here. Personally, I think that is very unlikely and there is some evidence that there might be simple life in the atmosphere on Venus.
Carazaa · F
@BlueSkyKing Not because of doubts, but because of sins. This is the reason Jesus died for humanity. My parents were not christians. I read the Bible myself.

@Carazaa so you are self deluded

Is this is some alternative description of the heat wave scorching us in the West?

Does " wild fires so far in California" mean 2021? No it doesn't. I really do not like to interpret everything I write over and over. I really hope you have a nice rest of your day. 🙂

@Carazaa You mean, you have to shop around and cherry-pick until you find a combination that suits your own purposes.

What a convenient book!

@newjaninev2 Bahahaha!!! Yep!! The only way you can be religious.

It is. One can find a quote to support almost any opinion, then another to prove it's wrong! :)

You’re doing the cray cray posts again Carazaa? Gnawing of tongues…yay. Sounds like fun.
Carazaa · F
@LilithoftheTrees

It surely doesn't seem fun, but this is what God says.

Ezekiel 33

If I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ but you do not speak out to dissuade him from his way, then that wicked man will die in his iniquity, yet I will hold you accountable for his blood. 9But if you warn the wicked man to turn from his way, and he does not turn from it, he will die in his iniquity, but you will have saved your life.

@Carazaa he sounds so bossy and judgy … He should take a break.
Carazaa · F
@LilithoftheTrees Would you be tortured for people who hate you voluntarily? Think not! I think some don't understand how wicked the human heart is and that we have NOT earned Jesus taking on the entire worlds sins on his shoulders. We think we are something and deserve a lot. The world is narscisistic and bossy and really deserve nothing at all!

@DocSavage I know!🙂

I wonder if Revelations was written after some sort of "trip", as it's so ridiculous. Shamanistic practices were common in many old religions though I don't if they were "official" in Judaism of the time.

@LordShadowfire I made a correction, I meant 23 to me has always signified judgment.

@Carazaa I see you missed the biggest portion of all of this that needed correcting, lol.

What does this line mean???

Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.

@Carazaa Wow. So mature. You're totally going to get me to come back to Christianity with logic and reason like that.

@MasterLee The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire.[c=BF0000][big]They were seared by the intense heat. they cursed
the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him.[/big][/c]

The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in agony and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done.

@Carazaa Going in circles again ,you just said he is angry and is causing all the disasters we are seeing . A newborn isn't innocent?

@Carazaa
I saw him yesterday outside the 7-11 munching on a big bite, and sucking on a cherry slurpee. Don’t get your hopes up.
Carazaa · F
@DocSavage Then you are prophesy fulfilled.🙂

[c=BF0000]26 “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather."[/c]
DestroyerOfIdeologies · 22-25, M
@Carazaa cool. Then shall Christians be seeing some of their love ones and family "scorched by the sun's fire", "seared by the intense heat", in "their pains and their sores" and "gnaw their tongues in agony"?
Carazaa · F
@DestroyerOfIdeologies God has told us that he will put the saved towork and judge the world, but I don't know how, I don't. In heaven there are no tears.
DestroyerOfIdeologies · 22-25, M
@Carazaa I guess you don't have such answers for the following questions: What will happen to free will? What about those who want to cry for their love ones who aren't save? He will just disregard them? Manipulate them? Hide things from them? Make them forget? After all, there are no tears in heaven.

@Carazaa you may have good intentions, but you are ignoring and discrediting the work of the Holy Spirit and you have crossed over into sin.
@Carazaa You told me earlier that parts of the Old Testament can be ignored. Especially the instructional parts and the Ten Commandments that were carved on tablets.
Sharon · F
@BlueSkyKing As well as any other parts christians today find inconvenient.
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
Ahhh .... You just don't find good, descriptive writing like this anymore.

Tell us how we are all going to hell!
Sharon · F
@Carazaa I can't get it in early modern English (which is what I presume you mean by Old Elizabethan) so I get by with contemporary English.

What point do you think you're trying to make? Your god would know how languages were going to change over time it were anything like as omniscient as it's claimed to be.
DocSavage · M
@Carazaa
You have a problem with Latin?
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@Sharon
"Different versions frequently contradict each other. Denying what anyone can easily see for themselves is ridiculous in the extreme."
I haven't found that to be the case, so I repeat my challenge:
Post a version of Revelation that significantly changes the story.
Perhaps one in which there aren't seven churches in Asia? Or no seven angels? Or no seven seals? Or no four horsemen? Or no beast whose number is 666? Or no whore of Babylon? Or no New Jerusalem?

Or will you dodge again? 🤭
"If your god actually existed and were omniscient (as is claimed), it would have foreseen these uncertainties and made itself clear from the beginning."
The translations in each period of history were written to be understandable to the people of the time. If you can't understand parts of the KJV, does that mean people in 17th century England couldn't? You can't understand parts of Shakespeare either.
"You were quite content with the argumentum ad populum when you thought it supported your position."
You have a penchant for getting things exactly backwards, just as you did when you claimed the Bible was influenced by Norse paganism rather than vice-versa. I gave you a reference to read on that subject, but I doubt that you did, or if you did, you had no comment. Another dodge?

As for argumentum ad populum, it was you who claimed paganism was making a comeback in Britain. I merely pointed out that 1 in 1000 is hardly impressive.

What you need in the numbers game is both numbers and plausibility.
So, for example, there are over 1 billion Hindus, but they can't even decide if Brahma or Shiva created the universe; according to this story, Vishnu and Brahma argued over who created the universe, and then Shiva suddenly appeared from a fiery lingam to set both of them straight.
Vishnu was engaged in his yoganidhra - the slumber of yoga - at the end of a kalpa, in the waters of the great deluge, when there appeared before him, [Brahma] emerging from a great illumination. [Brahma] introduced himself to Vishnu as the Creator of the Universe, to which Vishnu replied that he was the architect of the Universe. An argument ensued between both as to their superiority over one another, when there appeared before them - a huge lingam of fire - with tongues of flames blazing out of it.

Curious to trace the origins of this column of fire, [Brahma] assumed the form of a swan and flew upwards, while Vishnu assumed the form of a boar, and burrowed down into the earth. Days of search in either direction proved futile, and hence the duo surrendered to this column of fire with prayers. Shiva then appeared out of this column of fiery lingam, with a thousand arms and legs, with the sun, moon and fire as his three eyes, bearing the pinaka bow, wearing the hide of an elephant, bearing the trishul, and addressed Vishnu and [Brahma] in a thunderous voice, explaining that the two were born out of him, and that the three were then separated out into three different aspects of divinity.
[corrected for spelling]
So it is obvious that Pascal would not have taken the plausibility of such gods seriously, which leaves only one other major religion to consider: Islam.

Pascal probably would have said that a religion that claims Allah would reward jihadists in paradise with 72 virgins (not Muslim virgins, of course, but infidel virgins as sex slaves), he probably would have assigned low plausibility to Allah also.

Which leaves us with the Christian God, which clever Pascal correctly concluded was the most likely.
