If someone says something "$exual is a sin" [Spirituality & Religion]

or “they choose not to do such things because they personally believe its a sin/ because religious reasons”

why do people get so outraged?

Now, I’m not talking about crazy people who go yelling at everyone who commits what they consider "sin", I’m talking about people just explaining why they personally choose not to do something.

How is that different from saying that they avoid certain foods for religious reasons?

I mean, I understand people getting angry when others try and tell them how to live their life... but I'm not referring to those types

Sadly certain people have tried hard for years to have religion removed from the government and now are going after society. If you don't want to do something then you shouldn't have to or be pressured to. End of story.

[@240020,gregloa] SAYING something is a sin violates NO ONE'S rights. When you pass LAWS that are unfair, that is a different matter, but people have the RIGHT to say what they want regarding their beliefs.
[@339606,Helicopter]
yeah, I always found its funny how when you say "I don't do something because I don't like it" then everyone is fine, but then when you say "I don't do something because of religious reasons" everyone loses their minds
Exactly! It's ridiculous. Uncalled for.
[@78387,Stereoguy]
My comment was that America was founded on Christian principals. What people think or like today has nothing to do with what happened in the 1600's.
AMEN, brother!

It's not really different from 'keeping kosher', refusing to drink alcohol or eat pork, and so on, so you are correct in that respect. As I recall, my Aunt, who was very religious, was a little upset with me when I had a live-in boyfriend, but she wasn't outraged, because she was sane.

Instead, she just encouraged me to NOT live with him, kindly and gently. At the time, my boyfriend and I had a laugh about it...and just did what we wanted. NOW I can see that she might have had a point.

[@387713,4meAndyou] If I were you I would talk to your aunt about Old Testament concubines, and how God NEVER condemned the practice. A Baptist pastor on YouTube said that a live in girlfriend was the closest modern equivalent to a concubine in the ancient world.

Why don't you go ask whomever you are talking about?

I can see that point. It's their business what they believe. Just worries me that they will be tortured because most people have sexual thoughts and if they think that they are sinning all the time, it may make their life unhappy.
[@339269,JimboSaturn] Yeah I kinda agree, from what I've read though its not so much the thoughts or desires alone that are considered a sin but rather actually giving into the desire...

But with that being said there are still religious people out there who will bully people for not following their religion, or even bully people for just having thoughts.
and that's wrong

[@339606,Helicopter] Ok if they think that acting out on their lust outside of the sacrament of marriage is a sin, that's fine with me they are entitled to their beliefs and it doesn't sound like it will cause them self hatred. If I criticized them for that, I would be like the religious bullies I hate so much.

Some people when they see other people with self discipline living to a higher standard then they are will hate on that person because they don't like it when they see someone living up to standards which they are not living up to..
Others feel judged by that person. There’s no getting around it. Choosing not to eat foods for religious reasons is not as private and personal a thing as sexual behavior.

If you're a political figure is US and have an affair. You'll be forced to resign of you get caught. Talk about separation of church and state...🤔 Not even close.
