I think pick-n-mix is a good way of describing the bible. It isn't one book, but a collection of books. Each book having a specific purpose and a specific audience. Written in different styles to meet those purposes. It's better to think of the bible less as a sole book as more a collection of scriptures from the Jewish people.

So, if something in the environment should change somehow making it favorable to one eye color over another (using your example), the ones with the favored eye color would tend to survive and the other not as well.
I learned that as 'natural selection'.
Sounds like the phenomena they use to breed 'designer dogs' like Labrador + Poodle = Labradoodle.
[Feel free to use my Labradoodle example if you like. Everyone knows about Labradoodles.]

1. Overall survival of the individual doesn’t matter...What matters is that the individual survives long enough to replicate its genes. Once it has achieved that, it’s immaterial whether it lives or dies.
You’re here to replicate your genes... that’s why they made you. You’re an escape pod for your parents’ genes, just as your children are an escape pod for your genes.
2. Artificial selection is guided by us, in order to achieve a specific goal.
Natural selection is determined by the constantly changing interplay between sex, death, and the environment.
Thee are no goals. Each generation of genes is delivered into an unpredictable environment. Either they will manage to in turn replicate in that environment... or they won’t.
Genes march backwards into the future.
The stunning result is that you, and I, every other living thing currently on the planet (mainly bacteria), are the current product of an unbroken chain of successful replication over the last 3.5 billion years. [i]Every single one[/i] of your ancestors managed to successfully replicate over 3.5 billion years.
(I’m not the latest product of that unbroken chain, because I have a daughter, so the title passed to her... my escape pod) 🥰

@fairefoutre I've mentioned this to @Pikachu a number of times. But for some reason he doesn't just wanna say "young Earth creationists" for accuracy. Instead he wants to annoy everyone by implying creationists deny evolution when the clear majority don't. It's almost like he's a troll 🤫

Okay. My understanding is this: organisms changing over time to have new traits, which either kills them off or makes them more likely to survive. I mean the monkey to human thing I think is actually about a common ancestor with apes? Mostly evolution happens through mutations in sex cells, which can be good just as often as bad.
My stumbling blocks? Well, I believe it someone. Natural selection makes sense. Like the finches I believe on those islands? If you're a bird with a beak for drinking nectar on an island full of nuts and berries, you will die out unless a mutation allows a differently shaped beak that allows you to crack open those nuts. That makes sense to me. However, I do not believe humans and primates share a common ancestor or that every animal has evolved from a completely different ancestor (which, from what I understand, not many people actually believe that). The Bible said God created humans and animals. I believe some animals have changed and that humans have, too, very slightly. Like heavily active melanin in Africa and the Caribbean. That's evolution. Yes, when something conflicts with my faith, I don't believe it. Because that's what faith is. Believing in what may seem impossible no matter what people say to the contrary and no matter what people put you through. It's trust. That's why.
