OlderSometimesWiser My comment is more along the lines of how often Boomers created these situations of moral depravity, like gangs, Satanic panic, Enron, ebonics, drugs, etc. They always had something to be morally outraged over, even while a majority of these things didn't actually affect them or have any impact to their lives, but somehow got their cages rattled anyways.
And a lot of it was that the media was trusted more at the time and the internet wasn't quite in existence to determine if the latest fad moral decline is actually happening or if the facts are correct, which is also extremely problematic. The media saw their ratings go up as people tuned in to see what they should be up in arms about this week and programmed accordingly without any concern about what the end implications are going to be, which ended up usually being super shitty.
But now that we have the internet to learn if things are factual, and that the things they should be morally upset about are actually true, they couldn't give a single shit about.
When did that change happen? When did they finally decide morals weren't worth bothering over? Considering how much damage they did back in the 80's and 90's, you would think they'd keep that up because drama and fearmongering was fun.
