following historically has meant that someone will no longer interact with me. and it doesn't seem to be useful any longer for narrowing the feed or bringing in the sorts of things or posts i want to see so i don't follow anyone and i don't let anyone follow me.

Before these changes, I actually rarely followed anyone. And often removed those who followed me.

I actually don't block or mute anyone though. Never have.
